Job purpose
Help deliver Blind Veterans UK direct marketing and supporter development programme by
supporting the delivery of our campaigns, in order to fundraise for Blind Veterans UK.

1. The post holder is responsible for providing campaign management support to the
   Individual Giving Team in order to produce recruitment and development direct
   marketing campaigns.

2. The post holder has additional responsibility in the following areas: organising supporter
   relationship procedures, donor care, dealing with response handling agencies and other
   external suppliers, liaising with internal departments and members to develop strong
   fundraising propositions.

Main accountabilities of the post
1. Provide campaign management support to the Individual Giving team for the running of
   direct marketing campaigns in order to recruit, retain and develop supporters in
   accordance with the Individual Giving strategy. This will include coordinating artwork,
   writing fulfilment and call centre briefs, helping with the print & production process &
   campaign analysis.

2. Help source case studies and stories from the organisation to develop strong fundraising
   propositions for the appeals

3. Be a key team member with regards to supporter relationship management. This
   involves responding to supporter inquiries in an effective manner and dealing with
   donors via white mail, website and telephone

4. Participate in research and any other ad hoc projects run by the Direct Marketing

5. Work closely with the Marketing and Communications team to ensure that
   communications reinforce the Blind Veterans UK brand

6. Help to build strong working relationships with Service Delivery to ensure their
   commitment to the themes and general content of the appeals.

7. Work across the fundraising department on cross team projects as required

Additional responsibilities
1. Attend in-house and relevant external training courses, as agreed with line manager.
2. Practice and comply with all aspects of Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 and the
   Charity’s current Health and Safety policies.
3. Undertake any reasonable tasks from time to time at the line manager’s request, as may
   be deemed appropriate within the scope of the post.
Work context
1. The post operates within a busy Fundraising Department.
2. Primarily office based, there are occasional requirements to visit other Blind Veterans
   UK and third party sites, sometimes requiring national travel and overnight stays.
3. There are high levels of integration between fundraising teams and the post has to liaise
   with other teams on daily basis to deliver strong fundraising propositions.
4. A high level of commitment to members is also needed for this post.

Autonomy and decision making
1. The post requires ability to work unsupervised and take initiative where necessary

2. The post holder is expected to liaise with the Group Manager – Individual Giving and
   Senior Direct Marketing Officers, Stewardship Officer, Supporter Services Assistant and
   Direct Marketing Officers when ensuring that the message conveyed in the direct
   marketing communications is consistent with the broader charity mission.

3. The post holder is expected to make some operational judgements relating to DM
   campaigns without reference to others. These will include writing fulfilment briefs for the
   forthcoming campaigns, dealing with supporters’ correspondence and queries

4. The post holder will liaise with the Senior Direct Marketing Officer (Retention) with
   regards to any issues that have an impact on costs and expected results of the direct
   marketing campaign and supporter relationship management.

Regular communication with Marketing & PR, Community Fundraising and Partnerships
teams with regards to fundraising campaigns.
Frequent communication with Area Welfare Officers, ROVIs, and Collections and Archives
regarding case studies for campaigns.

The post communicates on a regular basis with response handling, print and other external
agencies and consultants regarding DM Campaign requirements and with Supporters and
the general public through the campaigns.

Frequent communication with members and with other relevant organisations regarding case
studies to be used in campaigns.

Main areas of difficulty
1. Maintaining effective supporter relationship management procedures whilst ensuring
   that internal objectives and messages are conveyed in an appropriate manner.
