               NEWS RELEASE
               October 25, 2005

               SUBJECT:       DEATH INVESTIGATION


               Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini announces that Detectives from the Scioto
               County Sheriff’s Office are currently investigating the death of a newborn infant whose
               body was discovered in the rear yard of a residence located in the 800 block of Dutch
               Ridge Rd., Portsmouth, Ohio.

               On Tuesday, October 25, 2005 the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office 911 Center received a
               911 call at 3:42 p.m. from a resident who resides in the 800 block of Dutch Ridge Road,
               Portsmouth, Ohio who called to advise that she had discovered the body of an
               unidentified infant lying in the rear yard.

               Sheriff’s Deputies along with Detectives and Minford Squad 3 were dispatched to the call
               for service and arrived on the scene eight minutes later and reported that the infant was in
               fact deceased. The Scioto County Coroners’ Office was notified and arrived on the scene
               to assist in the investigation. Scioto County Coroner, Dr. Terry Johnson ordered the body
               to be taken to the Montgomery County Morgue for an autopsy to determine the cause of
               death.

               Sheriff Donini states that the preliminary investigation is ongoing and has decided to not
               comment nor speculate on the cause of death, sex race or age of the victim until a
               complete autopsy report has been provided. Detectives are currently investigating the
               case as a homicide pending the outcome of the autopsy. Anyone with information
