Write an essay in which you describe your studies, your community service activities, and
your career plans or goals.

Your application form and essay are due in the Political Science Office, 3308 Friedmann Hall,
by the Friday before Spring break (“Spirit Day” on the academic calendar). Announcement
of the award will be made at the end of March. The award will be presented at the Political
Science Honors Luncheon in early April.
                THE MARK DENENFELD ENDOWED MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
                               IN POLITICAL SCIENCE


Eligibility

        All applicants must have earned at least 60, but no more than 105 credit hours
        toward an undergraduate degree in Political Science. Preference will be given to
        applicants with higher numbers of completed hours in Political Science. Must be a
        declared major in Political Science.

Criteria for Selection

        Students must have met the basic academic requirements of and demonstrated
        superior academic performance at Western Michigan University and compiled a
        record of community service and service to others.

Duration of Award

        The scholarship shall be for one (1) academic year, non-renewable.

Selection Committee

        The Selection Committee shall be the Department of Political Science Scholarship
        Committee.

Amount and Number of Awards

        There shall be one award of approximately $500.00

Notification

        The Department of Political Science shall notify the family of the late Mark Denenfeld
        of the scholarship recipient annually.
