Central School Read-a-thon

On February 26th to celebrate national Read Across America Day, Central School
will be participating in a school wide Read-a-thon. The money raised by the Read-
a-thon is split between a charity chosen by your child’s class and the PTO
The event will start at 1:30 PM with the children reading to themselves for the first half
hour and with their “reading buddies” the second half hour. All students in both AM and
PM Kindergarten will be read to by their book buddies for thirty minutes.
Attached you will find your child's pledge sheet. The pledges will be based on the
number of minutes each child reads. The entire school will be reading for sixty minutes
the afternoon of February 26th.
Please help your child complete his/her pledge sheet. Pledge amounts start at 1
Pledge sheets and the money collected need to be returned to the school no later than
February 26th. Checks can be made out to Central School PTO – make sure to note
the student’s name/classroom teacher in the memo line.
On the day of the event, please send your child to school with a book to read and a
towel and/or pillow on which he/she can sit.
