Dear CIW candidates, partners and customers in Japan:

I am excited to inform you that we have re-launched the CIW (Certified Internet Web Professional)
certification in Japan. This re-launch is further evidence that the global CIW standard - “国際標準資格”-
continues to show the industry that anyone who holds a CIW certificate possesses unique skills demanded
in the workplace.

Individuals who hold CIW certificates have demonstrated that they have the skills to address critical
business needs, develop mobile and traditional Web solutions, and even create the Facebook of the future.
People who are CIW certified can think proactively, use the latest design and development skills, and have
foundational knowledge that empower them to evolve along with the Internet. This is the CIW difference.

CIW: A Worldwide Standard
CIW has achieved worldwide, global success over the years. Today, we work regularly with CIW certificate
holders in Japan, India, Egypt, South Africa, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Brazil, and in the United States.
Companies such as IBM, American Express, Consonus, and Cimcorp are just a few of those who have
embraced the CIW standard worldwide. 
 
CIW continues to grow. We have delivered hundreds of thousands of exams to individuals across the glob
over the years, and have certified over 65,000 people worldwide. We are currently developing a worldwide
community of professionals. We invite you to become a part of it.

CIW: The Skills Industry Wants – and Needs
CIW teaches the skills that industries need worldwide. As a result, members of industry from all over the
world are talking about the high value of individuals who hold CIW certificates. For example,
EzineMark.com has written that CIW is “a recognized qualification which guarantees that the candidate
holding this certification has all the required skills required by all industries.”

CED Solutions understands that “No other Internet job-role certification can claim the same size, credibility
and acknowledgement as CIW.” New Horizons, a worldwide training organization, has stated simply that
“CIW is the industry standard for Webmaster certification.” 
 
Internet.com has listed CIW has one of the top certifications that put Web developers on the fast track,
writing that the CIW Web Development Professional certification “offers a comprehensive foundation in Web
programming tools, preparing recipients for all aspects of Internet application and database development.” 
 
As you can see, CIW is a respected, worldwide industry standard.

CIW: An Adopted, Global Standard
Yet CIW is more than simply recognized and respected. All CIW certifications have been adopted worldwide.
For example, in England, eSkills and City & Guilds both have adopted CIW to help educators in the
United Kingdom validate training programs. The Scottish Qualifications Authority, which helps universities

and further education colleges determine skill levels and funding for educational programs in Scotland, now
lists CIW as an adopted global standard.

The United States Navy recognizes all of our CIW certifications as essential standards that allow its
sailors and its contractors to compute securely. ISC2, creators of the highly-respected CISSP security
certification, recognizes as a global standard. For example, if you hold a CIW certification, ISC2 will waive
one year of its experience requirement.

It is exciting to see CIW in action; industries and standards bodies around the world are doing more than
simply recognizing CIW; they are implementing CIW every day to help us create a skilled labor force
worldwide.

Fundamental Changes to CIW
Now, I'd like to tell you about a few fundamental changes we have made to the CIW program:
   • You no longer need to pass multiple CIW exams to earn a single certification. Now, each time you
        pass a CIW exam, you will receive a CIW certification. For example, when you pass the CIW
        JavaScript Specialist certification, you will receive a certificate for that exam.
   • We've renamed many of our certifications and courses in an effort to make the CIW roadmap and its
        associated offerings easier to understand. For example, our CIW Site Designer exam (1D0-520) and
        its associated Design Methodology and Technology course now share one name: CIW Web Design
        Specialist. I'm confident that, although these changes may cause you a moment's pause, you will
        see that they result in a program that is far easier to understand.
   • CIW Web Foundations Associate is no longer a prerequisite for any subsequent CIW certification.
        However, it is still highly recommended for all individuals.

We've made quite a few changes to CIW. Let me tell you more about each of our certifications, starting with
CIW Web Foundations, which helps turn consumers of the Internet into professional producers of the
Internet.

New Skills for a Reigning Standard: CIW Web Foundations Associate (WFA)

The CIW Web Foundations Associate (WFA) certification is your gateway to the Internet. If you don't
already know about this global standard, it is composed of three separate courses and certifications:
    •   Internet Business Associate
    •   Site Development Associate
    •   Network Technology Associate

You can earn each of the above certifications separately. Or, you can take a single exam. The choice is
yours.
For this particular re-launch of CIW, we're doing more than a simple remodel of the above certifications.
We're making foundational changes to each of its exams and courses. Why? Because businesses have
radically changed how they use Internet and Web technologies in the past 18 months. Naturally, we're going
to make sure that CIW reflects these changes. But we do even more than that with CIW, as you'll see.

New to Internet Business Associate
Topics we're adding to the first WFA certification and course of the series, Internet Business Associate (IBA),
include:
   •   Cloud computing and its impact on you and your business.
   •   Communicating using today's mobile devices, such as tablets and smartphones.
   •   Wise use of social media in your career.
   •   Securing your information and identity online.

No other training program focuses on how businesses use the Internet and social media better than Internet
Business Associate.

New to Site Development Associate
The Site Development Associate (SDA) certification and course now sports in-depth labs on:
   •   Developing pages with the “technology trifecta” of HTML5, CSS and JavaScript.
   •   Tying your Web presence to social media services.
   •   Beginning study of social media analytics.
   •   Designing for mobile devices.
   •   Creating and editing video.

As you can see, we've made Site Development Associate into an HTML5 program.

New to Network Technology Associate
The third course and certification in the series, Network Technology Associate (NTA), now includes:
   •   An overview of virtualization.
   •   An investigation of service-based models, such as Software as a Service (SaaS).
   •   A look at the impact of Bring Your Own Device (BYOD).
   •   An overview of big data and analytics.
   •   A guide to networking with mobile devices.

If you're looking for the ideal introduction to the underlying technologies that make the Internet and the Web
possible, look no further than Network Technology Associate.

We are very excited about the changes we have made to CIW Web Foundations Associate.

CIW Web Design Professional: Your Web Design Standard
Our Web Foundations Associate certificate is not the only one we offer, of course. Once individuals are CIW
Foundations certified, they can move on to become professional designers. Our CIW Web Design
Professional series of certifications allows individuals to obtain the design and e-commerce knowledge they
need to develop for traditional and mobile devices. Our certifications include:
   •   CIW Web Design Specialist
   •   CIW E-commerce Specialist

We teach more than pure design, however. We teach social networking, Search Engine Optimization (SEO),
and all of the necessary analytics necessary to conduct effective transactions online.

CIW Web Development Professional

At CIW, we know that professionals need to know programming and development in addition to pure design.
Those who wish to move beyond the world of pure design can move on to the world of Web development
with CIW. Our CIW Web Development Professional certification offerings allow you to enter the
workforce with unique skills that industry demands. Individuals can become certified in three vital areas of
