Zeppotron (part of Endemol UK Plc) has been commissioned by Channel 4 to produce
some ground-breaking television on the night of the upcoming election and are looking
for exceptional young people with a passion for politics to be a part of it.
The Alternative Election Night will be a four hour live special presented by and
featuring much of Channel 4’s key talent. The aim of the show is to be funny, revealing
and intelligent with the viewer taking away real insight and analysis as well as being
The show will feature a number of pre-recorded items and studio events that take a look
at the run up to the election and react to the election results as the night unfolds.
One of the pre-recorded items will see three young candidates each representing a
different political party taking part in a filmed election debate chaired by one of our
Candidates should be aged between 9-11, be confident and bright and have the energy
and passion for politics to be able to voice their opinions and views. This will be an
exciting opportunity for politically minded children to have their say on key election
Your child’s school thinks your son/daughter would be great for the debate and we would
love for him/her to fill in the attached application form if they are interested in taking part.
Along with the application form we would also like a recent photograph and a short (1
min) video. Please note that the video does not need to be professional in any way –
mobile phone videos are absolutely fine, we’re just interested in what they have to say!
These videos/photos will only be seen by a limited amount of production personnel and
are not for broadcast.
Once we have received the application forms the next stage for successful applicants
will be a brief telephone conversation with one of our team. Following this we will
arrange to meet applicants who are selected to go through to the next stage, which will
be a chat with one or two of our production team and will again be filmed for internal
Once the three candidates have been selected, we will inform their parents and liaise
with them prior to the filming date.
Filming is planned to take place in April, outside of school hours. Please make sure your
son/daughter indicates on the application form if you are away/unavailable for any dates
in April. Filming will take place on one day and will take approximately half a day. We
will need a parent or guardian to attend the shoot and we will organise/cover all agreed
Please could you sign the parental consent section at the end of this letter to give your
permission for your son/daughter to apply to take part in this application process and
return it along with the completed application form to firstname.lastname@example.org or via fax
to 020 8222 4544. If your child is selected to take part in the filmed debate then we will
need you to sign a further release form for that.
Please could you make sure you talk to your child about the application process and
their potential involvement in the programme. As this is a casting process we want to
limit their disappointment as much as possible if they are unsuccessful.
If you have any enquiries or would like more information please do call me on 020 8222
