                                 Blast Impact and Survivability Research Unit (BISRU)
                                 Department of Mechanical Engineering
                                 Faculty of Engineering & the Built Environment

BISRU is a URC accredited Research Unit within the Department of Mechanical Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering and the Built
Environment. The research team consists of Academic staff, Contract Researchers, Post docs, Full-time and part-time PhD students
and full-time and part time MSc students.

The successful candidate will carry out administrative and secretarial duties within the Blast Impact and Survivability Research Unit
(BISRU).

Responsibilities:

        Providing administrative and secretarial support to the BISRU Director, including maintaining paper-based and electronic filing
         systems, maintaining databases, and organising meetings.
        Front of house reception duties, including redirection of all enquiries (telephone calls, messages, faxes and e-mail
         communication.
        Being the purchaser for BISRU for all travel, accommodation and purchasing – including scholarship/bursary payments to
         students.
        Providing regular reports from SAP R3 for accounts management.
        Word-processing and general correspondence; preparation of letters, reports, agendas, and minutes.
        Co-ordinating applications and reports for annual and ad-hoc project proposals to the relevant authorities – NRF, THRIP,
         URC, Industrial Sponsors.

Requirements:

        Grade 12 qualification with a Secretarial Diploma or 3 to 4 years relevant experience in a secretarial/administrative position
         with similar responsibilities,
        Matric accounting or bookkeeping qualification, or minimum 3 years experience in financial/purchasing administration
        Proficiency in MS Office,
        Strong interpersonal and well developed communication (oral and written), organisational and planning skills,
        A high degree of self-motivation, personal accountability and commitment; ability to work independently under pressure; and
         as part of a team,
        Strong administrative and typing skills,

The annual cost of employment, including benefits, for this permanent part-time position is negotiable between R114 625 and R134
858.
