SPE UH – Rice Chapter: PetroBowl Recruitment
We at SPE UH-Rice Chapter have undertaken the responsibility of making a strong UH-Rice representation at the upcoming SPE Annual Technical
Conference and Exhibition to be held at Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, San Antonio, Texas from 8th – 10th October, 2012.
Since its first conference 88 years ago, the Society of Petroleum Engineers’ Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition (ATCE) has attracted
more than a half million of the E&P industry’s greatest minds from more than 50 countries around the world.
Technical sessions, presented concurrently with an exhibition, focus on all phases of oil and gas exploration and production. Special events allow
E&P professionals to network with colleagues from around the world and celebrate key successes in the industry.
ATCE is an exciting opportunity for students to participate in one of the most respected and well-attended events in the E&P industry. Meet
other students from around the world, develop important industry contacts, and gain technical knowledge.
PetroBowl matches SPE student chapter teams against each other in a fast-paced quiz competition. The competing teams are challenged to
answer both technical and non-technical questions associated with the oil and gas industry. PetroBowl is an event that is largely followed by the
industry professionals seeking to recruit young talents in their respective bandwagons. The same cause is supported by duly recording and
televising the event during its course.
PetroBowl provides us an opportunity of representing University of Houston-Rice Chapter on a platform shared by other competitive SPE
student chapters around the globe, I personally consider it as an extremely beneficial exposure to the individuals contributing towards the same.
In consideration to individuals, this event proves to be a source of industry networking as well as a deployment platform for young talents.
I have primarily been given the responsibility of recruiting individuals from the UH-Rice Chapter for developing a self-motivated team in regards
to the upcoming PetroBowl event. The representing team will essentially comprise of 5 individuals, although the representation on the dais is
limited to 4 individuals, the 5th individual serves as a backup. The usual process as followed in the past has been primarily recruiting 4 individuals
from the undergraduate program and 1 individual from graduate program.
The purpose is to seek your support for the same, interested candidates are requested to reply back at email addresses listed below. I
understand that everybody has a never-ending busy schedule, thus your support to this cause is not undermined with your physical absence,
your suggestions relating to question banks, team strategy are always welcome. I will like to seek the participation of as many individuals as
