A day in the life of ….a first year Classicist (3 year course)
8am Wake up, hear that the shower is busy, go back to sleep again.
9am Panic. Shower. quickly read over my essay and notes for my afternoon essay supervision.
Chat to housemates over breakfast. Battle with the bikes en route to the Sidgwick site and
grab a coffee from the Classics common room
10am Threat of Persia (Ancient History) lecture in the Classics faculty
11am Lysias I (Greek literature) lecture
12pm Minoan grave shafts (Art and archaeology) lecture
1pm Walk over to Sidgwick site café (the Buttery0 with fellow Classicist friends for lunch and a catch up.
Greek language class - just me and 6 other students so will hopefully have my translation
2pm of the set text, which we're currently reading through, prepared.
3pm Check emails in Classics library, pick up books for the next essay.
Wander back to Downing library and get a bit of work done; be it a translation for a
language supervision, reading for an essay or prep for the next days lang class.
Essay supervision with Dr Millet in his Downing room. Myself and a student from Peterhouse
4pm try to answer 'What caused the fall of the Roman Republic?'
5pm Go back to my house and chat with housemates for a bit
Do some emailing admin: organise the next Downing Ladies II match with a captain from
another college, help plan a Cambridge Amnesty event
SLOPS - sit and eat with most of Downing in the canteen. We usually drag it
6pm out for as long as possible!
7pm Get some work done for the next day.
8pm Shower and get ready for a night out.
Meet the girls for some drinks in Downing bar.
9pm Head out to Cindies - since the queue gets massive very quickly.
Dance the night away!
