Job Title: Finance Assistant
Responsible to: Finance Manager
Working hours: 27.5 hours per week 9.30-3.00
Salary: £15,000-£20,000 (dependent on qualification and
experience) pro rata based on 37.5 hours per week
Holidays: 25 days pro rata plus public holidays
Job summary: To support the administration of the financial affairs of the
organisation in an effective and efficient manner, provide
the Board of Directors, Chief Executive and Managers
with the range of information required to manage the
Main Duties/ To deputize for Finance Manager in their absence.
Principal Maintain the sale, and nominal change to
Accountabilities purchase and nominal ledgers.
Code and enter invoices and staff expenses to
nominal ledger and change to departments and
Pass invoices to managers for checking and
Raise and enter BACS and cheque payments.
Enter payments onto SAGE.
Answer queries from creditors.
Follow up any queries/discrepancies with
managers/debtors and creditors.
Track project income and expenditure.
Manage petty cash systems and processes.
Work with managers to set budgets.
Reconcile bank/building society accounts.
Operate online banking processes.
Carryout administration tasks required.
Collect vehicle log books monthly and record and
record departmental spreadsheets change to
mileage usage/calculate vehicle fuel and repair
costs to departments on a spreadsheet and then
enter journals onto accounts.
Raise sales invoices.
Calculate pre-payments, accruals and deferred
income journals for monthly management
Carryout monthly payroll
Train to do management accounts and audit work.
Assist with reports to the board of trustees.
Cover for the finance manager in their absence
Coordinate finances with YG’s Senior Management
Ability to report to funders on finance outcomes.
Support the YG budgeting process.
Be able to work with limited supervision.
To contribute to the development of YG’s
accounting and reporting systems.

Responsibilities Undertake other such tasks that the CEO/board may

Job Context: Young Gloucestershire is a long and well established
countywide youth work charity providing a range of
personal development and social education

of direct delivery and inter-agency partnership and
contracts. Within this context, the post holder’s role may
change and develop to meet the needs of the

Supervision and The post holder is directly responsible to the Finance

Associate of Accounting Technicians (AAT) or 2 A levels or
equivalent and a minimum of two years charity accounts
Degree or equivalent and a minimum of 2 years
accounts/finance office experience
Strong analytical and organisational skills and the ability to
consistently meet deadlines
Excellent working knowledge of SAGE
Excellent IT skills including fast and accurate use of Microsoft
Word, Excel, Outlook and databases
Evidence of the ability to offer a wide range of skills, to cope with
sudden changes of task and o prioritise personal workloads
