The Sustainability Office of the University seeks to appoint an individual to support the delivery of a
range of communication campaigns aimed at staff and students. The Communication Facilitator
role is 14-21 hours per week, flexible for exceptional candidates.
Background
With a population of more than 36,000, the Sustainability Office has identified personal impact as
the driving force behind our carbon footprint. As a result the Sustainability Office has developed a
range of exciting programmes over the last few years to engage staff and students with
sustainability related issues. Our main project is our ground-breaking Sustainability Engagement
social marketing project, which has seen our team meet thousands of staff face-to-face and work
with them to solve issues and save energy in buildings.
As a successful candidate, you will support the delivery of this project, as well as a number of other
behaviour change communications campaigns, including but not limited to the resolution of the
following campaign aims:
Encouraging staff to save energy, and to organise into energy saving groups
Improving the uptake of video conference services and reducing business flights
Promote enrolment into sustainability training programmes, workshops and award schemes

campaigns that measurably promote behaviour change and contribute towards fostering a
sustainable, low carbon University. You will work with academic and support staff, and students
across the University primarily through the development and implementation of social and
engagement marketing campaigns. Experience of marketing standards, including social marketing,
graphics design, and social and digital media would be valuable. You will be expected to lead on
raising awareness and prompting behaviour change on a range of issues throughout the
