as teachers the Requirements for all teacher training providers.
The Standards are outcome statements that set out what a qualified teacher must know, understand and be able to do. The Standards are organised in three inter-related sections:
• Professional Values and Practice standards outline the attitudes and commitment to be expected of anyone qualifying to teach • Knowledge and Understanding standards require newly qualified teachers to be confident and authoritative in the subjects they teach • Teaching standards relate to skills of planning, monitoring and assessment, and teaching and class management.
The Requirements underline the essential contribution that schools make to initial teacher training. They cover: entry requirements for ITT; training and assessment; management of ITT partnerships with schools; quality assurance. Action required If your school is involved in ITT you should look at the full requirements for training and assessment and plan how to use them from September. To become more involved in teacher training, the TTA or your local ITT providers would be happy to talk to you.
