9. Catalog Description: Strategic Management – management decisions with student participation in simulations
and/or case studies emphasizing comprehensive organizational analysis, policy and strategic development. Major
Field Examination is administered.

10. Prerequisites: Completion of ALL M.B.A. core courses.

13. Course Outcome Competencies:

Upon completion of this course the student should have an improved appreciation for strategic management and the
operating challenges facing such administrators;

14. Attendance Requirements: This is a participative course, therefore, participation impacts this assessment. Any
assignment that is late in whole or part will be penalized 15 points from the earned grade.

16: Course Requirements and Grading Criteria:
The content of this course will be provided from reading the text, lecture, case studies, research of business literature
and the Internet, and participation in both individual and group case analyses and presentations.

     Case Analyses and Critiques (30 %). Case analyses and case critiques will be done within an assigned team.
      Teams will rotate throughout the course. Cases will be due online on the assigned “DUE” date. Submissions that
      are late to will be penalized a letter grade for the first week, an additional 15 point penalty for the second week
      late, and 15 point penalty for each week thereafter. Quality of the presentation critique will be assessed according
      to a rubric provided in class and on Blackboard. [Remember for every case analyzed there is always room for
      improvement].
     Discussion Boards (10%). Two discussion boards are provided to discuss features of strategic analyses applied
      to current events. Discussion Boards will be due online on the assigned “DUE” date.
     Mid-Term Exam (25 %). Chapters 1 – 7 (taken online).
     Comprehensive Case Analysis (10%). Assignment of a case for comprehensive analysis.
     Final Exam (25%). Chapters 8 – 13 (taken online).

Students will also be required to take the MBA Field Exam at the end of the course.
