					               SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL PROCESS

Guidelines
1. The supervisor and the officer will review the major job functions and the competencies appropriate to each
   job function at the beginning of the school year. Every function is to be evaluated.

2.   A plan for evaluation, feedback, and indicated revisions of performance standards is developed.

3.   Multiple sources of information and the date used to evaluate competencies and functions are considered,
     including lesson plans, incident and activity reports, peer observations, and school administrator input.

4.   Once the evaluation is completed as specified on the performance appraisal instrument, the supervisor and
     officer develop appropriate professional development plans.

            SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL INSTRUMENT

Instructions
1. The supervisor is to rate the school resource officer on a six-point scale as indicated below.

2.   The supervisor is encouraged to add pertinent comments at the end of each major function.

3.   The SRO is provided an opportunity to react to the evaluator’s ratings and comments.

4.   The supervisor and the officer must discuss the results of the appraisal and any recommended action
     pertinent to it.

5.   The officer and the supervisor must sign the instrument in the assigned spaces.

6.   The competencies pertinent to each major function must be discussed by the supervisor and SRO at the
     beginning of the year.

7. The instrument   must be filed in the SRO’s personnel folder.

              building upkeep as it relates to safety (locks, windows, doors, etc).

              liaison between these agencies and the schools.

     2.5      Is prepared for court and gives appropriate, accurate and truthful testimony.

                 timely completion of annual in-service requirements as scheduled.

        5.5      Works as part of a team with other SROs and school staff.

        5.6      Treats everyone (co-workers, students, parents, and all others) with dignity, respect, and
                 fairness.

        5.7      Makes proper use of issued equipment (vehicles, firearms, portable radios, computers, etc.).

        5.8      Reports to work as required, in timely manner and prepared for work. Notifies appropriate
                 personnel of schedule changes.
