NOTES:
 It is highly recommended that this is installed on a fresh operating system
 Make certain that Internet Explorer version 6.0 or later is installed
 Do NOT install on Active Directory domain servers. They will not allow correct installation
 The database may be installed on a separate computer from the AIMWorX Program. When installing the
AIMWorX Program disk you will specify if the database is on the AIMWorX server or an external server.
 Use the AIMWorX program disk to install Adobe Acrobat Reader or use your existing installation of Acrobat
Reader (version 4.0 or above is required for reading AIMWorX documents) and review documentation prior to
      installation

STEP 1: Database Installation
1. Insert Database CD into CD-ROM drive of the computer that you want the database to reside on. If it is a
separate server from the AIMWorX server you will specify this during the AIMWorX Program installation.
2. Browse CD drive through “My Computer” icon.

default. The default directory will be fine for the Program Files unless the operating system has created two
or more partitions. If you have a large D: partition, select the browse button and change the C: in the path to
D:. This will allow the datafiles to grow on this partition without affecting the free space on the system
partition. It is recommended that the operating system be installed with 2 partitions (C: and D: drives), that
way the Microsoft Operating System and the AIMWorX program can be installed on one partition and the
database can be installed on the other partition.
15. Choose “Use The Same Account for Each Service and Autostart”. Select “Use Local System Account”.
    Click “Next”
16. Select “Mixed Mode”. Enter a password (suggest using “sa”) and verify it on the second line. Remember
this password, as you will need to enter it later in the installation.
17. You will be prompted that Setup has enough information to complete the installation.
18. After the install process on NT Server or Windows 2000 Server, you will be prompted for a licensing mode.
Select the “Per Seat” method and in the number of client access licenses, enter the number of clients that

    the folder
5. Double click the “SQL2K_SERVER_SP3.exe”. This will prompt you for a location to extract the Service
Pack. By default it will extract to the root of C drive in a folder called “sql2ksp3”
6. When finished you will get message “The package has been delivered successfully” and click OK
7. Find the “sql2ksp3” folder on the C drive and open

Upon reboot, all AIMWorX services should be loaded in the system tray. You can use the following chart to
determine which services are not needed for your installation. Turning off unneeded services will reduce the
system resources used by your server. AIMWorX Service names match the corresponding AIMWorX Module
name. To access the Windows services right-click on “My Computer” and select “Manage”. In the right-hand
panel that appears double-click on “Services and Applications”. In the right-hand panel that appears double-

potential Alarm Client PC and that the Alarm Client PC has network rights to access the
                 AIMWorX Server.
24. Enter the rest of your alarm clients within the Alarm Manager by following steps 22 and 23 above.
25. When completed, you are ready to define your notification parameters. This is done from within the Alarm
Manager. Refer to the AIMWorX Alarm Manager manual or the on-line help. Events are configured to
publish themselves to the Alarm Manager from within the AIMWorX Manager and from within the other
AIMWorX modules. Refer to these specific documents to define the events you wish to publish to the
    Alarm Manager.
