AZ DB101 and Benefits 2 Work Services
Using www.az.disabilitybenefits101.org as the Lead Training Tool
Disability Benefits 101 or "DB101" training participants will learn how to outreach and train on paid
work and disability benefits by using the calculator tools and information on AZ DB101. The trainer
will role model best training practices and provide scripts and training tools. With training,
organizations can build DB101 into their everyday business practice.
Case studies using Arizona DB101 Benefits Planning Calculators at www.az.db101.org will show
when and how paid work affects access to health care and disability benefits for students and career
builders. Trainees receive tips on how and when to use these tools for targeted audiences to increase
interest in employment and achieve success with their choices.
Through case studies, lecture, group discussion and practice sessions, the training will increase
educator and service provider knowledge, and demonstrate how local networks can engage as
coherent partners to meet real time information needs. The sessions include training tips for the
following topical areas: 1) benefits analysis; 2) employment planning based on person-centered
options and informed decision making; 3) tracking and reporting requirements (e.g., avoiding benefit
overpayments); and, 4) ongoing openness to learning and building resource networks.
Arizona Disability Benefits 101 is brought to you in partnership with the
Arizona Rehabilitation Services Administration and Arizona’s Medicaid Infrastructure Grant
(1QACMS300122) administrated by AHCCCS.
