The Interdiocesaan–Centrum Brussels cooperates with Ecclesia Group Belgian insurance broker for church‐linked institutions Detmold/Brussels/Hasselt, November 24, 2010 – The insurance division of the Interdiocesaan Centrum (IC) /Centre Interdiocésain (CI), a non‐profit service organization of several Belgian dioceses will become independent company with the support of Ecclesia Group, Germany. IC Verzekeringen NV / CI Assurances SA in Brussels and its affiliate ADC in Hasselt service, like Ecclesia Group does, almost exclusively church‐owned or ‐linked institutions such as dioceses, schools, hospitals etc. A very high proportion of schools in Belgium are owned and operated by the Catholic Church. The Belgian public limited company will start with 70 employees and about 10.000 clients. The shares will be held by the Ecclesia (70 %) and by IC (30%). “When we got to know each other, we were amazed by the things in common, be it the institutional mission in the articles of association or the extensive range of claims handling services – rendered independently from any insurer or the understanding what the provision of services means“ said Willy Mortier from the diocese Gent and Patrick Du Bois from the archdiocese Brussels in their function as Executive Board members of IC, as well as Norbert Noehrbass and Manfred Klocke of Ecclesia’s Executive Directorate yesterday in Brussels. The long term partnership includes the exchange of experiences and information at an international level, common procurement strategies and common business expansion. All employees will be taken over. Ms. Mieke Janssens, who has been leading the brokerage division since three years, remains being /will become Chief Operating Officer and member of the board.
