Decision No. C01-667
BEFORE THE PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION OF THE STATE OF COLORADO
DOCKET NO. 01A-203T
IN THE MATTER OF THE APPLICATION OF QWEST CORPORATION FOR
APPROVAL OF REVISED EXCHANGE AREA MAPS FOR THE ELIZABETH, COLO.
AND PARKER, COLO. EXCHANGE AREAS.
ORDER GRANTING APPLICATION
Mailed Date: June 28, 2001
Adopted Date: June 27, 2001
I. BY THE COMMISSION
Statement
1. This matter comes before the Commission for
consideration of Qwest Corporation’s (“Qwest”) Application for
approval of revised exchange area maps in the Elizabeth,
Colorado and Parker, Colorado exchange areas filed on May 16,
2001. Qwest seeks approval to modify its Exchange and Network
Services Tariff (PUC No. 20), including its exchange area maps,
to revise the exchange boundaries in the Elizabeth and Parker
exchanges. Qwest seeks the proposed exchange area maps and
tariff revisions because of existing customers living within the
Elizabeth exchange that are served from the Parker exchange.
Qwest asserts this change will merely allow Qwest’s exchange
area maps to reflect the actual serving configuration. No base
rate areas are being affected as a result of these revisions.
2. Qwest states that the specific details of the
revisions are set forth in a proposed advice letter and
accompanying tariff sheets which include the revised exchange
area maps, copies of which are attached to its application as
Exhibit A. Qwest states that three existing customers will be
impacted by the proposed revisions. These three customers have
been informed of this filing through the U.S. mail by letter, a
copy of which is attached to its application as Exhibit B.
Qwest states that these customers will experience no change
concerning the local calling area, telephone number, telephone
rates, or telecommunications services. Qwest believes the
proposed boundary change is in the public interest and will not
adversely affect the public switched network of Qwest, or its
financial integrity.
3. Qwest requests that the Commission allow it to
make a compliance filing of the proposed advice letter and
tariff sheets to be effective on not less than one day notice.
4. We agree that the proposed boundary changes will
promote the public interest and welfare. Good cause having been
stated, we will grant the application.
II. ORDER
A. The Commission Orders That:
1. The Application is deemed complete.
2
2. The Application for approval of revised exchange
area and base rate area maps in the Elizabeth, Colorado and
Parker, Colorado exchange areas, filed by Qwest Corporation on
May 16, 2001, is granted as described in this Order.
3. Citing this Order as authority, Qwest Corporation
shall make an advice letter filing implementing the tariff and
map changes described above on not less than one day notice.
4. This Order is effective upon its Mailed Date.
B. ADOPTED IN COMMISSIONERS’ WEEKLY MEETING
June 27, 2001.
