Going Global: For international job and internship seekers
Thanks to the Parents Fund, there’s a new job search tool for Virginia Tech students
seeking international job opportunities. Going Global is an online resource for students
seeking permanent employment and internships abroad. Many students who visit
Career Services express interest in locating international opportunities, and Going
Global is a helpful new addition to the resources currently available.
Going Global is an excellent research tool for those interested in expanding their
geographic and cultural horizons. Going Global provides extensive information through
its Country Guides and Global Employer directories. Going Global currently includes
employment information for over 20 countries, including Australia, France, Japan, South
Africa and Switzerland, to highlight a few. By using the country-specific guides, students
can access information on employment trends, industry-specific trade and professional
organization information, resume/cv writing guidelines, embassy listings, and cultural
and interviewing advice. The Global Employer directories provide corporate contact
information including company descriptions, contact information, names of key officers,
financial figures, company activities and company descriptions.
Going Global is not only helpful for students seeking job opportunities but also for those
considering studying or visiting abroad. While extensive in its content, this resource is
user-friendly and easy to navigate!
Going Global is funded for the 2005-2006 academic year through the generous support
of the Parents Fund. Virginia Tech students can access Going Global via the Career
Services web site at www.career.vt.edu/WebSites/GoingGlobal.htm. Because this
resource is funded especially for Virginia Tech students, the Virginia Tech PID and
password are necessary to access Going Global.
