The primary airport servicing Las Vegas is McCarran International Airport. Most major airlines fly into McCarran Airport. While airline schedules will vary, transportation to and from Las Vegas is regularly available from most areas of the country. MAILCOM has listed some of the major carriers that service Las Vegas on our website, www.mailcom.org. These carriers offer reduced rates by booking online. For your convenience, MAILCOM has provided a link to each of these major carriers on our website. The conference starts at 12:00pm on Sunday, September 9th and ends at 4:00pm on Tuesday, September 11th. 2. What hotel should I stay at? The conference is being held at the legendary Riviera Hotel located directly on the Las Vegas Strip. The Riviera has been renovated with new luxury rooms and suites guaranteed for MAILCOM attendees. The cut-off date to guarantee the MAILCOM discount rate of $75.00, plus taxes, per night is August 20, 2012. Reservations made after that date, (if available), higher prevailing rates will apply. Check-in time is 4:00 pm and check out is 11:00 am. In order to receive the MAILCOM Discount Rate of $75.00, plus taxes, you should register via the Riviera Reservation Link Riviera Hotel Reservations, or by calling 1-800-634-6753. Be sure to mention MAILCOM (Group Code: SMAIL12) if you call to make your reservation. Early departures could incur a penalty of one night's room & tax fee. The hotel does not issue written confirmations numbers but guests may obtain a confirmation number by contacting the hotel directly. 3. Are there any limitations on nights the MAILCOM Discount Rate is offered? The MAILCOM Discount Rate of $75.00, plus taxes, per night is available from Sunday, September 9th through Wednesday, September 12th. There are a limited number of rooms available for Saturday, September 8th at the MAILCOM Discount Rate. However, these rooms are limited and prevailing rates may apply to Saturday night reservations. 4. What type of rooms will MAILCOM Delegates be assigned at the Riviera? MAILCOM attendees who register via the Riviera Registration Link on the MAILCOM website will be guaranteed the Signature Guestrooms in the Monaco Tower. Monaco is an elegant tower with twenty-three floors featuring the "Signature series" with nine hundred and seventy-three Non- Smoking rooms and six suites. The Signature series was created with the business traveler in mind. These guest rooms include a European Styled bed with luxurious comforter, 32" LCD TV, MP3 alarm clock radio with Ipod compatible and a bedside safe. The Monaco Tower is for Non- Smoking guests only. If you are a smoker, you can still qualify for the MAILCOM Discount Rate, but you MUST stay in a different tower. 5. If I choose to rent a car, is there parking at the Riviera? The Riviera offers a free parking garage which is located directly next to the hotel. In addition, there is an outdoor parking lot next to the parking garage. All self parking at the Riviera Hotel and Casino is free. Valet parking is available for a fee. 6. How do I get from the airport to my hotel? If you are flying into Las Vegas, the quickest and easiest way to get to the Riviera Hotel is by taxi. The cost is approximately $30.00 and the ride takes about 30 minutes. There are less expensive shuttles, but it could take up to 60 minutes to get to the hotel. Shuttles and taxis are readily available at the airport and reservations are not required. If you are driving into Las Vegas, the Riviera Hotel & Casino is located just minutes off INTERSTATE I-15. Visit www.rivierahotel.com for detailed directions and additional information concerning the Riviera Hotel. 7. If I stay at a hotel other than the Riviera, will transportation be provided? There is NO scheduled MAILCOM shuttle service between any hotels and the Riviera Hotel. If you are staying at any other Las Vegas property, taxi service is readily available and the cost depends on the distance between your hotel and the Riviera. If you are not staying at the Riviera and coming to the conference from another hotel via taxi, request to be dropped off at the Parking Garage entrance, which is located behind the Riviera Hotel. Las Vegas has city shuttle buses. The Deuce (double-deckers), serves all hotels located on the Strip. They run every 10-15 minutes and stop right in front of the Riviera Hotel. The cost is $3.00 one-way or $7.00 per day for unlimited use. 8. Is there an emergency telephone number at conference registration? There will NOT be a message board located in the MAILCOM Conference Registration area. We recommend that you refer all calls to your hotel room or cell phone. The general telephone number to the Riviera Hotel is 1-800-634-6753, or 702-734-5110. While cell phones do operate very well in the conference area of the Riviera Hotel, we ask that all delegates please place cell phones on silent or vibrate while attending classes and sessions so you do not disturb other attendees or speakers. 9. How can I access my Email at the Riviera Hotel? The Riviera Hotel offers complimentary Wireless High-Speed Internet Service in all their guest rooms. The high-speed service requires a laptop with wireless capabilities. Older laptops may require a WiFi adapter card, which is available at the Riviera UPS Store for approximately $30. The adapter cards may be used anywhere WiFi service is offered. WiFi internet access is not available in the Convention Area or seminar meeting rooms. 10. Will I receive a badge prior to the start of the conference? No, you will receive all conference materials including your badge when you arrive and check in at registration any time during the hours listed below. MAILCOM registration is located in Grande Ballroom of the Riviera Hotel Convention Center Area. Registration Hours are: Sunday, September 9, 2012 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm Monday, September 10, 2012 7:30 am to 5:00 pm Tuesday, September 11, 2012 7:30 am to 4:00 pm 11. Do I need to pre-register for any of the educational sessions? No, the meeting rooms are spacious enough to accommodate all participants and pre-registration is not necessary. 12. What are the requirements to obtain a Certificate? Attendees who attend at least Six (6) sessions within each Certificate Track, and have their participation at each session certified by the presenter, will receive a certificate signifying completion of the program. You may substitute ONE Certificate Track session with either the Monday morning Keynote with Chief Postal Inspector Guy Cottrell, the Monday afternoon Keynote Security Panel Presentation or the Tuesday Luncheon Keynote with USPS Vice President James Cochrane. 13. Can I receive two Certificates? Yes. Full Conference registrants can receive 2 Certificates. The same rules apply as working towards one certificate: you must have attended at least six (6) sessions within each Certificate Track. You are allowed to substitute ONE Certificate Track SESSION with ether the Monday Morning Keynote, the Monday Luncheon Keynote or the Tuesday Luncheon Keynote. In order to qualify for two certificates, you will need to attend Six (6) sessions in one Certificate Track, and either Six (6) sessions in a second Certificate Track or Five (5) sessions in the second Certificate Track and either the Monday Morning Keynote, the Monday Luncheon Keynote or the Tuesday Lunch Keynote for a total of twelve. 14. I attended some certificate track sessions from a previous MAILCOM, do these sessions count towards a certificate for this year’s conference? Yes, if you have the form with the appropriate validation stamps and the discipline is in the same area you may complete the required sessions and receive a certificate in that field. (i.e. Leadership, Safety & Security etc…) 15. Which Certificate Tracks are being offered at MAILCOM Las Vegas? Continuing its mission to “promote the advancement of the science and art of mail communications,” MAILCOM is offering our very popular professional certificate program in twelve disciplines, which are available to all registered conference delegates. We recommend that all attendees and participants dress as comfortably as possible in "business casual" attire. The average temperature this time of year in Las Vegas is in the high 80’s during the day and cooler in the evening. 18. I will be bringing a guest so can I purchase individual event tickets? If you are a paid registrant, meals tickets are included with your registration. If you wish to purchase additional event/function tickets, they can be obtained at the conference registration during show hours listed above. Prices will vary depending on the event or function and will be posted at MAILCOM Registration. 20. What is the MCOM Master Certification Program and where can I find information about it? The MCOM Master Certification in Mail Communications is a program that has been developed and designed to recognize and reward industry professionals who have obtained certificates of achievement in previously approved disciplines at prior and current MAILCOM Conferences & Seminars. Specific details about MCOM Certification can be found on our website, www.mailcom.org. 21. Does the Riviera Hotel have a Business Center? The Riviera Hotel boasts a full service Business Center/UPS Store with state-of-the-art technology including mini-suite offices w/fully equipped computers, Internet access and a multitude of copying options. The business center is located just a few short steps from the conference center and operates Mon-Fri 7:00 am to 6:00 pm and Sat & Sun. 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Due to a speaker conflict or other unavoidable issue, changes occasionally need to be made to the original program or agenda. All changes will be communicated via email to registered delegates prior to the start of the conference. In addition, program changes will be noted on our web site.
