The only way Cross Roads ISD can afford
the funds to build these facilities is
through a Bond Election.

Currently, there are no State or Federal
Funds available for this project, hence the
alternative source is through local
property taxes.
School districts are operated using two funds:
                 M&O and I&S
              How are they used?

M&O Maintenance and Operations funds are for
       salaries, instructional materials, utilities,
       and daily operations.
I&S Interest and Sinking Bond funds can
only be used for capital improvements,
not for salaries or daily operations.
              Keep our $ at CRISD

 This is referred to as
  “Robin Hood” payments.
         What is a School Bond?
Bonds are contracts purchased by investors. They
are sold to lenders to raise funds to pay the cost of
construction for new buildings, additions and
renovations of existing facilities. They are also used
to purchase land and equipment for new or existing
facilities and technology upgrades. Bonds CANNOT
be used for personnel or operating costs.

Cross Roads ISD will have a contract with the lender
to repay these funds over a period of years with
semi-annual payments.
How do we determine the course to be taken
to meet the needs of CRISD Students?

We have listened to the requests of the
community and have reviewed a facility plan
that addresses the current and long range
needs of the students of CRISD.

How long will it take to build the facilities
              if the bond passes?

If the bond is approved by the voters,
construction could begin as early as
                March 2013 with
             completion by early 2014.
If I am 65 years of age,
what does this mean for me?
School taxes on the Homestead of a
person 65 years of age or older, are
frozen by state law and WILL NOT Total Tax Impact to a Taxpayer
