San Francisco: Under The Golden Gate Bridge

San Francisco, a one-of-a-kind city, offers a wealth of entertainment and enjoyment for
tourists of all ages. The city is famous for its multi-story row homes and hilly terrain
reaching up to 100 feet. San Francisco lies on the tip of the San Francisco Peninsula,
surrounded by the pristine waters of the Pacific Ocean and the San Francisco Bay. Most
city roads are extremely steep, lending to its unique views from an elevated vantage
point. It’s not uncommon to see the city draped in a thick layer of fog, with winters mild
  and summers warm and dry.

The city’s arts and culture trace back decades. Visit The Filmore, charged with helping
Janis Joplin and the Grateful Dead launch their amazingly successful music career in the
early 60s. The American Conservatory Theater is a popular local venue for a elegant
night out, providing Broadway theater as well as local productions. For science fans, The
Palace of Fine Arts offers their Exploratorium with amazing hands-on activities.

Here are a few more areas you won’t want to miss:

     - Haight-Ashbury, an area hugely influential in the 1960s during the beat
generation. The area continues to offer a bohemian quality of life, with many
locally owned stores and retro shops, though mainstream commerce has since
         been integrated.
     - Market Street, the city’s main transit artery.
     - Fisherman’s Warf, a popular tourist attraction, with the Ripley’s Believe It or Not
museum, the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park, Wax Museum and
Musée Mécanique, a museum filled with penny arcade games and other
         interesting exhibits.
     - Nob Hill, one of the city’s wealthiest neighborhoods.
     - The San Francisco Zoo, housing 250 different animal species, participant in the
Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ species survival program.
     - The Castro, an urban gay village frequently portrayed in pop culture.
     - The Golden Gate Bridge, a massive six-lane suspension bridge and one of the
largest in the world, connecting San Francisco to Marin County.

A visit to San Francisco is not complete without a ride on one of the world’s last
manually-operated cable car systems – the famous San Francisco cable car or trolley.

Join the Travel by e-Magazine!, Visit today!
Currently, the cable car network includes the Powell-Hyde, Powell-Mason and California
Street lines, now primarily tourist attractions.

San Francisco has exceptional dining ranging from budget-conscious seafood to high-end
cuisine. The local food selection mirrors its diverse population, with a wide range of
options including vegetarian and vegan menus, sushi bars, Mexican and Chinese
restaurants, clam chowder and crab entrees.

San Francisco, California is a welcome retreat from the everyday grind during any
season. To book travel, search vacation package deals or check arrival and departure
  availability, visit Travel.
