You and a group of fellow investors are going to imagine that you have been given 50,000.00 to invest in the stock market. Your objective is to invest the money and when you sell your stocks your portfolio will be worth much more than 50,000.00. Research is required for this assignment. To be a good investor you must research the industry, company and the markets so you know when to sell and when to buy stock. You will buy stocks with a group but everything you turn in must be Your Work. You will be using an online game from Investopedia. Go to the web site and register your stock group. After you register you need to JOIN the ___________ game so we can compete with each other. Suffrage Introduction: Two-page Introduction Essay – Due After 1st Week 1. Why did your group decide to buy EACH stock? Be specific. 2. What does the company do or produce? Who runs the company? What are their last recorded earnings (not the stock price)? 3. What world events might affect this company? How? Think about the industry this company is in and how world events could affect them. Portfolio – Due After 1st Week This is a print out of the stocks you have originally bought and their original prices. You must have spent as much of the 50,000.00 as you can. You must include the name of the stock, number of shares bought, stock symbol, price of each share, total amount you spent on each stock, and the date you bought them. (You can print out your portfolio from Yahoo.com.) Tracking – Due Twice During the Term Two Paragraphs for 2 (One paragraph each) of your stocks describing the performance and analysis on why you think these two stocks are performing the way they are. You must reference news articles relating to your company that give you an idea as to why you stock is going up or down. You should have two MLA format sources at the bottom of your paragraphs. The Final Week of the Game A final portfolio printout with gains and losses A chart for each of your stock for the 3 months Conclusion Essay Write a Two page final analysis that includes: a. What you learned while investing in the stock market b. What did you learn about the companies you invested in? What caused this company or industry gains or loses in the stock market? c. Did the stocks perform as you predicted? Why or why not? What was going on in the economy that caused your stocks to perform the way they did?
