OCTOBER 16, 2011
What a Day for a Picnic!
It was the best of times it was the greatest of times. The food was
the best and the fellowship was the greatest. That seemed to sum up
the thoughts of those attending the first annual Notre Dame-St.
Colman Family Picnic held last Sunday on the grounds of St.
Colman.
More than 200 people from the two parishes streamed into the
parish hall bearing desserts, salads and other delicious dishes, while
outside the grill was sizzling with hamburgs and hot dogs.
Some folks stayed in the hall which was set up to accommodate the
food and the folks, while others got their food and enjoyed one of
the few remaining warm days this year. Youngsters played outdoor
games on the spacious grounds.
The dual parish picnic planning committee felt the day was an
overwhelming success. The weather provided a perfect backdrop
for folks to meet and talk with Father Michael and Father James, as
well as to meet old friends and make new ones.
A committee spokesperson said:
“Our sincere thanks go out to all the volunteers, who helped make
the event memorable. We are indebted to the generosity of Lino’s
Market, DaVinci’s Pizza, Visiting Angels of Middlefield and
several parishioners for providing the door prizes. Special thanks
go to Vincent Cahill & Sons Excavating Inc. for providing the
portable toilet facilities.
“Finally, all this would not have been possible without the
participation of you the parishioners of St Colman and Notre Dame.
It is our hope that this event will be the first of many which we will
share.”
Deacon Ron Blank will lead a weekly Pro-
Life rosary to end abortion and other pro-
life issues every Wednesday in October at
7:00 pm in Notre Dame Church. All are
invited and are encouraged to bring a
friend. We also meet in the church every
Saturday morning at 8am to pray the Rosary. Please join us!
