 General Overview of the Atlantic
       Maritime Ecozone
- covers Quebec’s Gaspe peninsula and
  all of P.E.I, Nova Scotia, and New
  Brunswick
              Landforms
-   hills, coastal plains
-   area: 192 017 km2
-   sedimentary, igneous rock
-   inhabitable igneous highlands
              Climate

- Is influenced by the Atlantic Ocean;
 cooler in the Summer, Warmer in the
 Winter
- long, mild Winters (-4 c ),
 moderately warm Summers ( 15 c )
- Atlantic O. provides moisture ;heavy
 precipitation of 900 mm inland and
 on the coast 1500 mm of rain.
      Soils and Vegetation
- Coniferous: Red, Black and White
 Spruce, Red Pine, Eastern White Pine
- Deciduous: Sugar Maple, Red Oak,
 Yellow Birch, Paper Birch, Black Ash,
 White Ash
- Plants: Blueberries, Violets,
 Starflower, Lady splinter, Ostrich
 Fern
- Acid Soil found here; Good soil for
 farming
             Wildlife
- Mammals: Black bear, lynx, bobcat,
 whitetail deer, moose, red fox,
 muskrat, eastern chipmunk, beaver,
 raccoon, striped skunk, marten,
 fisher ,coyote, mink, river otter,
 porcupine, snowshoe hare, northern
 flying squirrel, woodchuck, hooded
 seal, harp seal, orca, northern
 bottlenose whale, blue whale

- Reptiles: Toads, leopard frogs, green
  frogs, spring peeper, yellow spotted
  salamander, blue spotted salamander,
  eastern newt, leather back turtle
- Fish: Rainbow smelt, Golden shiner, Sea

- Crustaceans: Lobster, Crab, Shrimp

- Insects: American cockroach, European
