California Department of Insurance Community Meeting

WHAT: To discuss The California’s Low Cost Automobile Insurance Program.
Presented by Lee I. Shimmin, LUTCF Associate Insurance Compliance Officer
California Department of Insurance CEOB

WHEN:
DATE: Monday, October 20, 2008
TIME: 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

WHERE: Amador County Library 530 Sutter Street - Jackson, California

WHY: California law requires that all drivers be insured. However, too
many low-income drivers remain uninsured because the costs of standard
auto insurance premiums are beyond their financial reach. The California
Low Cost Automobile Insurance Program’s purpose is to provide a low-cost
automobile liability insurance option to good drivers who demonstrate
financial need.
Since January 2008 California Low Cost Automobile Insurance has been
available in Amador County.

It is the law that you must have insurance when you drive. Senate Bill
1500 gave the insurance industry the ability to notify DMV and the CHP
when insurance has been canceled. This makes it important if you are
stopped that you have an active policy. Come join us to find how to
qualify. The Department of Insurance does not sell insurance it regulates
the industry and agents sell it.
