The Town Council’s “Amesbury 2012 & Beyond” campaign invited all the Primary Schools to take part
in a free drawing competition.
The theme of the competition is the “Queen’s Diamond Jubilee”, I attach a template for each child to
use. There are no restrictions on what the picture can be made of (paints, pencils, fabric) we will
leave that to the child’s imagination
All entries will be judged by the 2012 Committee.
The winner(s) will be displayed in the Forge Gallery during April 2012.

New artists at The Forge.
We are delighted to welcome Jane Elliman and Nicola Dunford to The Forge this month. Looking
forward to Richard Turner the chainsaw carver.

‘My paintings are inspired by an interest in chaos and the premise that, should you look on a large
enough scale at something chaotic you will, in fact find pattern and order. If one were to look back
over time there is a cyclical repetition of events, trends and fashions.

"I have lived in the same location in the very northern tip of Hampshire all my life. Born to an artistic
and creative family I was surrounded by two and three-dimensional craftspeople from an early age
who were a massive inspiration to me as I too showed an ability to draw and paint from an early age.
I find my biggest inspiration is in the natural beauty of the changing seasons in the countryside that
surround me and I enjoy creating exciting paintings in bright colours using either acrylic or oil. I love
the amazing sunsets and cloud formations that seem to be a daily part of my life on the remote down
land of north Hampshire and these are the things I try to capture in my paintings by using a fast and
bold technique. "

Link to News article in the Gazette and Herald about Richard Kinsley a chainsaw carver from
Shrewton. Richard is carving a replica Stonehenge with the biggest ‘stone’ over 6 ft tall. Think we are
going to need a bigger gallery!
