COMPUTER LAB TRAINING ASSISTANT (UNPAID INTERNSHIP)
OSCT is seeking 2 student interns to provide hands-on technology support to students using the
computer lab. The student computer lab assistant is responsible for providing assistance to students
working in the computer lab and proctoring tests for other students (giving supervision and directions
to students who are testing, while maintaining a quiet environment). Good interpersonal,
communication, and computer/keyboarding skills. Must be attentive to detail. Accountable for helping
others or providing regular guidance on an as-needed basis. The lab assistant also maintains computers
and equipment, installs computer software and hardware, and stocks supplies. A working knowledge of
computer hardware and the Microsoft Office software is essential to this position.


The student computer lab assistant is responsible for:
• Helping students in the lab with computers and answering questions; the lab assistant must be
considerate and patient at all times.
• Maintaining each computer, keyboard, and mouse in the lab, keeping lab clean, and organizing
supplies and equipment.
• Performing tasks given to them by the Computer Systems Specialist, or other computer-related
assignments submitted by training director. These tasks may include formatting of diskettes, burning
copies of CD-ROMs, moving/installing computer hardware, installing computer software, writing
“how to” instructions and other documentation for equipment and lab information.
• Must be able to work well with others.
