									                                 LAB NOTEBOOK FORMAT

1. Only permanently bound, hard-covered books (aka composition books) are acceptable.
2. Entries made in blue or black ink. Do not use any pen that will bleed through the paper.
    How to set up your notebook:
3. Front cover: Clearly write your name.
4. Title Page: Page 1 In the middle of the page, write the following in bold print:
                                    AP Chemistry Lab Notebook
                                             Period ___
                                    Seneca Valley Sr. High School
                                            Your Name
5. Numbering: Number every page of the notebook, at the top outside corner, starting with the
    front side of the first page as number 1 and the back of the first page as number 2. Continue
    numbering the front and back of every page of the notebook. Both sides of every page will
    be used.
6. Table of Contents: Designate pages 2-4 the Table of Contents. Write “Table of Contents” at
    the top of these pages. Organize as shown below.

    Recording work:
7. All lab work must be recorded in the notebook including notes, etc. from pre and post lab
    discussions.
8. DATE each entry in the left margin of first line of entry.
9. NEVER ERASE or use “white-out” to correct errors. If data is recorded incorrectly, simply
    draw a single line through the data which is incorrect. Include a brief note indicating why the
    data is incorrect or being discarded.
10. Graphs, data tables, and other small handouts may be glued into the notebook. No loose
    papers are permitted.
11. Preparation for each experiment: (COMPLETE PRIOR TO LAB)
    I.       TITLE: Exp # and Title
    II.      OBJECTIVES
    III.     PROCEDURE: Reference source of lab and where it can be found.
    IV.      DATA
12. Working part of notebook:
