Cast: 11-20 (all singing parts – 4 tenors, 2 altos, 1 soprano belt, 1 bari-tenor plus ensemble)
Crew: stage manager, 2 assistant stage managers, lighting technicians, sound technicians,
costumers, publicist/public relations crew, building/running crew, 1 videographer and design team
All-Ohio ensemble members must be registered delegates for the 2013 Ohio EdTA State
Conference. Two performances will be presented Friday night of conference. After strike (for
which all company members will remain), All-Ohio participants will become a member of their
own troupes for the remainder of the conference.
All-Ohio ensemble members must be available for the Parents Performance on Sunday, Feb.
24th at 2 p.m. at Sylvania-Northview High School.
This production will NOT be screened for performance at the International Thespian Festival.
If selected, students MUST agree to attend ALL rehearsals and the ENTIRE state conference.
Students must be a THESPIAN (active status) in order to audition and to be a member of the
All-Ohio Participation Fee: Each All-Ohio ensemble member must pay a $30 participation fee, which
is due BEFORE the FIRST rehearsal weekend in January and must be paid in cash, by money order,
or by school check. This money is used to help offset the cost of housing, food, and social activities
during all-Ohio rehearsal weekends. Students are not responsible for housing or food costs once
they arrive at rehearsal. Students are required to register for state conference with their schools; All-
Ohio students will pay the early-bird conference registration fee.

Students should prepare
For acting auditions: Each actor should prepare a vocal selection from the musical RENT, which
highlights their vocal range and is 16 bars in length. In addition, you will be asked to do a cold
reading from the script (or possibly a improvised scene which is similar to a scripted event). Students
should wear comfortable clothing as they will be required to learn and perform a dance combination.
Students will be scheduled in “flights” and will be provided with specific times to arrive at the audition
For management and technical staff interviews: a tech portfolio for presentation and discussion
during the interview. The portfolio must be bound in a large scrapbook or notebook format or digitally.
The portfolio should be in order by show with the most recent show first. Take time to label items. If
you choose to present a digital portfolio, you must provide your own laptop and/or other equipment.
Be ready to discuss intelligently your accomplishments and experiences. You will be responsible for
leading this discussion. You will have only 5 minutes for your presentation. The following list
suggests what you should include in your portfolio:
1. your resume
2. photographs, particularly close-ups, of your work (set, costumes, etc.)
3. paperwork (set designs, prompt books, light plots, prop lists, ground plans, renderings,
Background: The annual All-Ohio Show is one of the most exciting projects that Ohio EdTA offers to
Thespians in Ohio. Each Thespian troupe may send up to SIX REGISTERED THESPIANS to
audition for the cast and SIX REGISTERED THESPIANS to interview for production/technical
positions. Once chosen, cast and crew meet for their rehearsal weekends and the day prior to the
state conference. The show will be the opening featured show of the 2013 Ohio EdTA State
Conference at Sylvania Northview HS. The All-Ohio project intends to provide participating students
an experience with a high and advanced level of theatrical production. Involvement in the All-Ohio
show is a special honor for the schools as well as an unforgettable experience for the students.

Friday, March 1 at Sylvania Northview H S. All students need to secure time off school if
necessary to meet the rehearsal commitment on March 1st.

Housing during rehearsal weekends: What you should expect
1. During rehearsal weekends, students must stay in Ohio EdTA assigned housing.
2. Expect to bring a pillow, a sleeping bag and/or a comforter.
3. Students will be held accountable for being at their assigned housing by the designated curfew
and will remain there.
4. If you drive to rehearsal weekend, expect to park your vehicle at the rehearsal site. Students will
be transported to and from their assigned housing to the rehearsal site by their hosts.
5. Students are expected to be “good guests.”
6. All meals will be provided throughout rehearsal weekends.
7. Students will be under direct adult supervision the entire rehearsal weekend.
8. Parents of All-Ohio students will be provided with specific housing assignment and phone contact
information prior to each rehearsal weekend
Application and Forms:
Students auditioning/interviewing for the All-Ohio Show are to complete and submit the following
forms, postmarked no later than Friday, November 16, 2012. Late or incomplete applications will not

3. emergency medical form
4. teacher nomination form
5. troupe director nomination form
6. participation consent and academic eligibility forms with necessary signatures
7. A written statement (typed) about why you want to participate in RENT (not just the All-
Ohio in general) and what you personally bring to the production in terms of interest
about the issues this musical raises, i.e. homelessness, terminal illness, finding your
voice, living for today, following your dreams.
