                       Farm Bill Wildlife Biologist, Ohio
                                    Application Deadline: October 19th, 2012

                                Location: Union, Logan, Champaign, Clark and Madison Counties

Anticipated Start Date: December 1st, 2012 (Flexible)

Overview: The Farm Bill Biologist Program began in 2003 with 4 positions and we currently have over 100 Partnership
Biologists in 18 states. This position will cover and be located in USDA field offices in the county locations listed above.
The incumbent serves as a Farm Bill Biologist providing biological/wildlife technical assistance for USDA – Natural
Resource Conservation Service (NRCS), Ohio Division of Wildlife (DOW), and Local Pheasants Forever (PF) conservation
programs to agriculture producers and landowners. This position will be an employee of, and supervised by Pheasants
Forever, Inc., with daily instruction provided by local partners.

Duties:
         Provide technical assistance (wildlife focus) and guidance to landowners, government agencies, non-government
          organizations and others. (Training will be provided the USDA, DOW, PF and other local and state agencies).
         Coordinate the implementation and application of biological sciences within the conservation programs in
          cooperation with NRCS District Conservationist, DOW Private Lands Biologist, PF staff, and others.
         Complete contracts, applications and other required documentation for conservation programs (i.e. CRP, WRP).
         Communicate program requirements, complete site visits to determine eligibility, and develop contracts/plans for
          applicants enrolling in USDA Conservation Programs or other state and local conservation programs.
         Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
         Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with landowners and partner agencies
         Ability to work independently with little supervision and with diverse clientele
         Working knowledge of wildlife ecology, wetland and grassland management including the ability to utilize various
          habitat management tools in the development of a management plans
         Basic knowledge of agricultural and wildlife programs provided by Federal (i.e. Farm Bill, US Fish and Wildlife
          Service), State and PF.
         Excellent verbal/written communication and organizational skills
         Valid driver’s license required, use of personal vehicle required (mileage reimbursement provided)
         Ability to obtain USDA Federal Security Clearance

Training and Experience Guideline: Any combination of training and/or experience that will enable the applicant to
possess the required knowledge, skills and abilities. A general qualification guideline for this position is a Bachelor of
Science Degree in Wildlife Management or closely related natural resources field and/or related field experience.

Salary: $29,000 – $33,500 + Health Benefits and Retirement Package
