Role Title: Commercial Manager                         Salary Level: £28,000 - £38,000


Location: Holborn, London
PURPOSE OF THE POST
The purpose of the Commercial Manager’s role is to develop new diversified income streams for
Supporters Direct (SD), as well as increasing the profile of the organisation, both online and offline.

This will include the development and management of partnerships that increase revenue and/or
reduce operating costs for SD, and the coordination of online and offline promotional and marketing
activities.
OBJECTIVES
 To develop, implement and manage an income generation strategy and 3 year plan that can
    successfully deliver new funding and commercial income streams
 To develop a portfolio of SD properties that will be offered in exchange for services or financial
    investment
 To identify, secure and manage commercial partnerships, managing activation, return on
    investment & progress against KPI’s
 To create ‘IP’ for SD via bespoke articles, features, news stories and blogs with SD members, and
    wider community engagement organisations
 Establishment and development of SD’s donor network against targets
 In conjunction with the Communications function, develop the online offering of SD via Facebook,
    Twitter, You Tube and the recently re-launched SD website as key marketing and promotion
    channels
 Develop cost neutral advertising & branding opportunities in football & rugby league to increase
    the reach and brand awareness of SD
 To identify and implement methods of fundraising and/or partnerships with our member supporters’
    trusts and clubs
 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
You may be required to work some evening / weekends and also be willing to travel (within the UK).
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential Criteria
 Relevant professional qualifications
 A proven, successful track record in developing and managing corporate (commercial)
   partnerships
 A proven, track record in successful fundraising
 Exceptional written and oral communication skills
 Proven experience of engaging partners at a senior management level
 Experience of building and managing marketing campaigns preferably in the not-for-profit sector
 An engaging communicator with excellent influencing skills
Desirable
 Knowledge of and interest in professional sport
 Knowledge of mutual and other similar ownership structures
 A knowledge of the work and objectives of Supporters Direct
 An entrepreneurial edge with the ability to conceive new ideas and see them through to successful
   delivery
 Experience of working in an environment with varying stakeholders, and organisations

   Experience in a non-profit organisation, with evidence of personal fundraising success
   Experience in writing and submitting successful funding bids to trusts and statutory sources
   Experience of using IT, email and the internet, especially Microsoft systems

What you should do
Your job is to develop new and higher value commercial income streams over the next three years to
enable the organisation to diversify its revenue base. The Commercial Manager will have day to day
responsibility both for developing the strategy and operational plans, to deliver these requirements
against specific targets, as well as overseeing their implementation and management.

A major part of the role will be identifying:

    potential commercial partners;
    revenue generating (or cost-saving) commercial opportunities; and
    other funding streams
   
which the job-holder will then securing and manage successful delivery.
