Dear Parents,

We are looking forward to celebrating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee with a party in school on
Tuesday 29 May. Children may wear red, white or blue to school for the whole of the party day
instead of their normal school uniform. This is not compulsory and we do not want you to have
to buy new clothes for the occasion. (Please, no football kits)
Class teachers are organising themed activities during the morning for each class. There will be
a whole school party in the afternoon. All our classes, from Year1 upwards, have learned a
Country Dance or a May Pole Dance to perform during the afternoon. Mrs Asbury’s class have
been practising trumpet fanfares and we will have the whole school singing the National Anthem
and other patriotic hymns. We are providing food during the afternoon and hope that you will
send £1 as a contribution towards the food for each child. Our plan is to picnic inside or out,
depending on the weather. We will require some extra picnic rugs for the afternoon; if you have
a rug that you would be prepared to send into school for the day, we would be very grateful.
We hope our school party will get the children into the spirit of the event ready for the official
celebrations at the start of the half term holiday.
Thank you in anticipation of your support.

Yours sincerely

Mrs S Chalkley
Head Teacher
