                              - Bachelor degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in criminal justice
                              or related discipline.
                              - Relevant knowledge of applicable laws and regulations that pertain to public safety on a college
                              campus such as the Campus Security Act (Clery), OSHA, and FERPA.
                              - Relevant training, knowledge, and experience in the emergency management/critical incident
                              response/notification process (FEMA/ICS).
                              - Must be TCLEOSE certified, or possess the ability to qualify for and complete the course
                              requirements for the State of Texas Law Enforcement Certificate within the first year of
Required Qualifications       employment.
                              - Ten years of public safety experience, preferably within a college or university environment,
                              including five years of supervisory experience.
                              - Experience and knowledge of public safety operations, records systems, budgets, personnel
                              administration, training, parking services on a college or university campus.
                              - Demonstrated ability to direct and manage multiple tasks, and priorities in a dynamic and growing
                              institutional environment.
                              - Outstanding communication, team building, project management and analytical skills.
                              - Must be 21 years of age and a U.S. citizen.
                              Masters Degree preferred.
Preferred Qualifications      Graduation from advanced law enforcement education, such as the FBI National Academy or
                              Southern Police Institute preferred.
                              - Directs the Department administrative and support services, and special service functions within
                              the San Jacinto College Police Department i.e., Investigator, Evidence Technician, Crime Prevention
Responsibilities              Coordinator.
                              - Administers budgets and develops resources as a signatory officer.
                              - Oversees the Departmental Records Management System.
                          - Detailed working knowledge of public safety operations and community policing programs.
                          - Plans, organizes, and directs the operations of the San Jacinto College Police Department in an
                          effective manner that promotes and maintains a safe and secure campus environment.
                          - Provides leadership to ensure the efficient operations of all functional units of the department.
                          - Assists with the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures.
                          - Manages the police and public safety operations, records systems, budgets, training, parking
                          services and support personnel.
                          - Provides direction in the enforcement of all laws and San Jacinto College regulations.
                          - Assists with the development of departmental goals, objectives, and strategic initiatives.
                          - Assists Chief with the department budget, payroll, procurement, and inventory control process.
                          - Provides oversight of administrative records that includes staff development documentation,
                          personnel files, employee and department assessment reports; review and resolves corrective
                          action issues, and assists with the hiring process of personnel.
                          - Develops programs and initiatives that promote the safety and welfare of the College community.
                          - Participates in the maintenance of the College crisis management and emergency operations plan.
                          - Supervises the Department Incident Command System and manages the intelligence network and
                          issues related to homeland security.
                          - Supervises and coordinates security services that support College special events.
                          - Develops and maintains relationships that nurture the trust of the campus community, establishes
                          and participates in crime prevention programming that promotes relationship building.
                          - Reports to the Chief.

Salary                    D65 Salary based on 2010-2011 Board approved salary schedule.

                          Must be willing to work day or evening on, weekends, holidays, overtime, and special events.
