ADMIN ORDER FOR CORPS RUGBY MATCH VERSUS RE 15 - 17 OCT 12

References:

A. 2010DIN10-034 Travel at Public Expense dated 01 Aug 10.
B. RSRFC/12/Fixtures, Warning Order For Corps Rugby Union 2012/2013 dated 16 Jul 12.

1. General. The Royal Signals will play the Royal Engineers at Blandford on Wednesday 17th
October 2012 as part of the Army Rugby Union (ARU) Merit One Corps Championship. Training
will be held at Blandford Camp on the Monday and Tuesday ahead of the game.

2. Reporting. All members of the squad, including coaching and management staff, are to
report to the Sports Pavilion changing rooms, Blandford Camp at 1400 hrs on the Monday before
the game. Players will be released back to units at the end of the match. Unit rugby officers are
responsible for distributing this letter to their respective players listed at Annex A.

3. Availability. Due to units failing to notify the Secretary of player availability on a regular
basis throughout the 2011/12 season it will now be assumed that players listed in Annex A are able
to attend unless reasons are presented to the Chairman of Corps Rugby through the Secretary via
email (1ADSR-212SigSqn-2IC@mod.uk) before COP Monday 8th October at the latest. The
President will be personally informed of any players who are not released.

4. Individual Requirement. Players are to confirm their travel and accommodation plans
with WO2 Steff Gibbs (07875 199 125 or email WalesOTC-PSI-2@mod.uk) before COP Monday
8th October at the latest. Players whose availability status changes are to bring this to the
attention of either the Secretary or Director immediately. Due to service limitations, players from
the same unit or area are to organise to travel in the same vehicle. Accommodation is available at
Blandford Camp from the Monday prior to the game if required. Players are reminded to bring
smart civilian dress, including a shirt and tie, club polo shirt, along with all club training kit and
swimming kit. Raging Bull now has an online order service which is available through the website.1

5. Travel. Travel at public expense is authorised in accordance with 2010DIN10-034 at
Reference A. The use of the Representational Sport Travel Budget is authorised, through your
UIN, quoting Local Project Code (LPC) ZZP1E1 1403 and Resource Account Code (RAC)
PDA002. This will ensure the costs are attributed to AG TLB. For contract bookings, e.g. civilian
flights/hire cars, use the unit UIN, Purpose of Travel Code (POT) 16 and RAC PDA002. Units are
reminded that vehicles that are booked for the matches do not come from the unit budget

1
Players are to note that the team training and playing strip are different to the items that can be purchased on the website. Anyone
found to be in possession of numbered drill tops, playing shirts, green shorts or stripped socks will face disciplinary action.

                                                                    1
and personnel are not to block bookings on a cost basis, the unit UIN is simply used to initiate
the booking process only and no funds come from the units. Travel from Germany will be co-
ordinated centrally by Captain C Davidson, (contact details above) players from German
based units are responsible for contacting him to reserve a place on the transport.

6. Bookings are to be subject to the same level of diligence and co-ordination as bids under
unit budgets are given. Where possible players are to travel together and by the least expensive
means possible. If any player travelling individually is injured or concussed during training or the
game itself, and is therefore unable to drive, a member of the squad will be nominated to return the
player and the vehicle to the parent unit.

7. Civilian Clubs. Players are again reminded that they must formally notify their chain of
command if they are intending to play for a civilian club. Further direction on registration and
contracts will follow from the ARU in due course, but this is more than a simple matter of etiquette
as players need to be formally registered with each and any club that they play for.

8. Future Fixtures. A complete fixture list has already been distributed to the chain of
command at Reference B and no dates should come as a surprise to units or players. Players are
reminded of the need to take ownership of their own commitments and engage with their direct
chain of command early in order to deconflict with work commitments at the earliest opportunity.

9. Summary. The Corps were severely under strength at the recent Corps Festival with a
squad barely large enough to honour the limited number of fixtures on the day. Whilst the effects of
supporting the Olympics are fully understood, many players were declared unavailable at late
notice and the Corps was nearly forced to withdraw due to a lack of numbers. Units and players
are reminded of the need to support the Committee and to plan ahead in order to ensure
availability.
