tests must be pre-movement tested unless they move to a dedicated slaughter only market or the
Slaughter/Red section of a ‘6’ Day STANDSTILL market.
PLEASE NOTE IF YOU ARE BRINGING CATTLE TO MARKET FROM 3 AND 4 YEARLY TESTED

In order to offer the best service to our widespread client base, we will continue to hold dedicated

Cattle from 1 and 2 yearly tested holdings do NOT need to be pre-movement tested to be sold at a
DEDICATED slaughter market.
Store Cattle from 1 and 2 yearly tested holdings MUST have a pre-movement test to be sold at a
‘6’ DAY STANDSTILL market. Finished cattle can be sold in the Red section of a ‘6 ‘Day STANDSTILL
market to go straight to slaughter.
We believe that this procedure will be in everyone’s best interest and look forward to continuing
to provide a complete marketing service to all our clients.
The market is licenced to accept cattle from TB Restricted Herds, ie. Herds that have had a TB
breakdown in our Red (Slaughter only) markets subject to the following conditions:
a. The animals being presented for sale must have had a negative TB test in the previous 90
days.
b. In order for you to bring your stock here you will need to obtain a licence (TB24B) from
your local Defra Animal Health Office.
Obviously there will be many concerns and questions that you may have, we will continue to
update you in this publication or better still ring anytime.

MARKET REPORT
SALES REPORT
FOR LIMOUSIN DAY SATURDAY 6th OCTOBER 2012
Females lead Newark Limousin trade at 4500gns
Saturday's Limousin Day sale at Newark saw a packed ringside of potential buyers in
attendance with trade strong for the best of the stock on offer and the averages reflecting
the demand from sound breeding stock.
Auctioneer Paul Gentry admitted that while trade may not have lived up that seen at other
Limousin fixtures hosted by the market in recent months local commercial buyers were in
cautious mood following a poor cereal harvest and talk of high feed prices for the upcoming
winter.
"There is no doubting that had buyers felt more confident about the margins achievable on
cattle this winter they would have bid more strongly. But with so much uncertainty in the
market at the moment buyers remained overly cautious."
Female trade was the pick of the day and leading the day's prices was a 4500gns bid from
Messrs Turner, Holmefirth, for Cockleshell Vienna from the Pitcher family. This 2004-born
cow is by the noted Cockleshell Olympus out of Cockleshell Patsy a Woodhouse Magic
daughter. She sold suckling a heifer calf by Chytodden Conan and back in calf to Grahams
Elliott.
Taking the day's second best call of 4000gns was Bailgate Flavia, a Haltcliffe Vermount sired
heifer from Messrs Ward Greetwell, Lincolnshire. She’s out of Greenwell Donatella, a
Vagabond daughter, and sold having run with Bailgate Fearless to William Bird, Barkston
Ash, Tadcaster.
Following her were two at 3400gns, with the first being Cocklshell Dior, another from
Pitcher family. This 2008-born second calver is by Winnington Trumps and out of Cockleshell
Sue, a Greensons Gigolo daughter. Selling with a heifer calf at foot by Cockleshell Elite, she
sold back in-calf to Kaprico Eravelle and was bought by H Spiby and Sons, Markfield,
Leicestershire.
The other at this price was Forestside Foxy, a Rocky sired heifer from Messrs Prime
Brothers. This one is April 2010-born and is out of Knockhill Tusty, a Broadmeadows Cannon
daughter. She found a new home with Robert Hardy, Cauldon Lowe, Stoke on Trent.
A total of five lots then sold at 3000gns, with the first of these being the joint top priced bull
of the sale, Coachhouse Galahad from Messrs Heald. Sired by Rocky he is out of Coachhouse
Diplomat, a Nenuphar daughter and sold to C E Hardcastle and Sons, Grantham.
Next at this price was the other joint top priced bull, Dolcorsllwyn Gladiator from Glyn
Vaughan. This one, a Cloughhead Umpire son, is out of Dolcorsllwyn Virginia, a Milou
daughter, and sold with a beef value of +27 to M and G Chantrell, Narborough.
A 2007-born cow was the next to sell at 3000gns, with this being Millington Champagne, a
Millington Victorious daughter from Stuart Littlewood. She is out of Millington Vibrant, a
Genial daughter and sold with a bull calf at foot by Artanagh Danson and back in calf to
Goldies Fandango. Buying her was A H Booth, Aston.
The fourth lot at this money was another from Messrs Prime Brothers, Forestside Favourite.
She is another by Rocky and is out of Chatsworth Taffeta, a Hartside Nelson daughter. This
one was knocked down to P J Dale, Denby Village, Derbyshire.
And the same vendor and buyer accounted for the last one at 3000gns, Forestside Fabulous.
Sired by Objat, this May 2010-born heifer is out of Forestside Deliah, a Limo Tanat daughter.
Embryos and Semen
Quite possibly the highlight of the day was the embryo and semen trade, which saw
embryos by Wilodge Vantastic and out of Hafodlas Shona, dam of this year's Royal Highland
Show interbreed champion Hafodlas Domino, sell at 1500gns apiece. These were bought by
George and Pat Long, Ambleside, Cumbria.
Wilodge Vantastic was also at the head of the semen trade, with straws from him selling at
750gns each to Michael and Melanie Alford, Cullompton, Devon.
And making 600gns were embryos by either Saphir or Hafodlas Llion and out of Bellmont
Helen, an Uplands Arnold daughter. These were snapped up by Stuart Barclay, Stirling.
Averages; 14 pedigree cows £1908.75, 20 pedigree heifers £2509.50, nine pedigree bulls
£2508.33, 37 pedigree cows and calves £2169.53, 47 calves £1557.14
