Main Purpose of Job
Following the introduction of new VAS and VST systems in the Weighbridge at Northfleet & West
Thurrock we have a requirement for four suitably qualified and experienced Administrative Assistants to
work on a shift pattern covering the Weighbridge during the hours of 05.00 to 19.00. The successful
candidates will need to liaise closely with customers, drivers and operational staff. We are looking for
people who have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, are detail conscious and have the ability
to prioritise tasks in a busy and high-pressured environment. Successful candidates may be asked to work
from either site to assist with cover during holiday periods.
Job Requirements and main duties
Main Duties include but are not limited to:-
    Meet & greet all internal/external visitors in a professional manner
    Ensure all visitors to site inducted accordingly
    Control the access system
    Customer order reception and data entry
    Fleet operational and administrative duties
    Operation of the internal JDE and VAS computer systems producing weighbridge tickets, entering
      details into the new system and producing delivery tickets
    Work as a team member of the Logistics team to meet the OTIFIC targets
    Weigh raw materials/logistics lorries in and out
    Answer phones and basic admin duties where necessary
    Ensure adherence to company and statutory Environmental, Health and safety policies and
      legislation
    Assist with fire evacuations

The successful applicant will possess the following skills and experience:
     Hold a minimum of 5 GCSE’s at grade C or above (or equivalent qualification), to include maths and
       English
     An understanding of the road haulage industry
     Proven excellent administrative skills
     Be fully computer literate and conversant with Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel
     Confident telephone manner
     Proven customer-focussed experience in a customer service or logistics / distribution environment
     Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills in writing, face to face and over the
       telephone
     Excellent planning and organising skills with the ability of prioritising tasks and meeting deadlines
     Be responsive to the needs of the internal and external customers and colleagues
     Be a team player and have the ability to work unsupervised
