         Project Support Worker – East Lothian Access to Justice Project

                      Job description and person specification

Role purpose - Provide support to In-court Advice staff with client enquiries and
general administration

Reporting to – In Court Adviser

Key work areas and tasks: Provide administrative support to the In-court Adviser and
Caseworkers to ensure all aspect of clients’ enquiries and handled efficiently and

    To answer in-coming telephone calls
    Maintain office diary
    Input and maintain all paper and electronic client record sheets
    Produce and maintain standard forms, letters
    Process incoming and outgoing mail.
    Maintain and monitor effective and efficient administrative systems.
    Collate and interpret data to meet reporting requirements
    Undertake general office duties as directed
    Work with line manager to ensure defined performance and organisational
     standards are met
    Monitor health and safety with regard to staff, equipment and premises

Training and development

      Identify and implement own training and development needs.
      Attend in-house and external training courses as appropriate

Other duties and responsibilities

     Carry out any other tasks as required ensuring the effective delivery and
      development of the service.
     Provide general assistance as required and as directed.
     Abide by health and safety guidelines and share responsibility for own safety
      and that of colleagues.

     Ensure that all work conforms to Haddington CAB policies and procedures, the
      membership standards of the Scottish Association of Citizens Advice Bureaux,
      Scottish National Standards for Information and Advice Providers.
     Demonstrate commitment to the aims and principles of the CAB service.

Person specification

      Experience of a wide range of office administration
      Experience of maintaining client/customer records
      Experience of working with electronic case management systems
      Experience in working with Microsoft Office software
      Experience of dealing with the public and service users
      Ability to analyse and interpret complex information.
      Effective oral communication skills.
      Effective writing skills (in particular drafting of letters)
      Numerate to the level required by the tasks.
      Ability to prioritise own work, meet deadlines and manage workload in a
      pressured environment.
      Ability and willingness to work as part of a team.
      Ability to monitor and maintain recording systems and procedures.
      Understanding of and commitment to the aims and principles of the CAB service
      and its equal opportunities policies.
