Call to Worship II
Prayer of Adoration (Based on Deuteronomy 26)
God of all abundance,
On this day, we celebrate your goodness to us as we acknowledge the extraordinary
gifts of earth, rain and sun and taste the abundance of food that you have provided for us
to share. On this day, we recognize that all that we grow, all that we buy, all that we
cook, all that we eat comes as a gift from your hands. We give praise and thanks for the
ways you care for your people, offering us freedom, a homeland, family, friendship in
faith, and your ongoing gift of love. Your love is a feast, your Son is our host, and there
is more than enough to go around. In praise and gratitude we pray, Amen.
Prayer of Confession (Based on Living Faith 8.1.3)
Gracious God, we come before you to confess our struggles with unbelief, fear, and
temptation. Throughout our lives, we struggle with difficulties. And while we know that
this struggle is not a failing in itself, we confess that all too often we allow these
conflicts and difficulties to dishearten us. We are often much too slow to allow your
Holy Spirit to help us and give us the power to grow in Christ. Forgive us, we pray.
Help us to be confident in the knowledge that while we are far from perfect, our lives
can still be pleasing to you and helpful to others. For we ask all this in the name of Jesus
Christ our Lord. Amen.
Declaration of Pardon (Based on Living Faith 8.1.4)
As we commune in prayer with God through Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit enables us to
express our deepest longings, and we experience the sustaining power of God's
presence. Feel God’s presence and blessing in every aspect of your life, and be at peace.
Prayer for Illumination (Based on Living Faith 9.2.1)
Holy Spirit of God,
You are our teacher, the one who guides on the path of life. As we hear your word this
morning, help us to hear the good news of Christ. Empower us to share the good news
that we hear. Teach us to receive and to share this good news without arrogance, but
with humility and grace. Illumine to us the power of your truth at work in this place and
send us out with thanksgiving to seek truth in all things. For we pray in your Christ’s
holy name, Amen.

Commissioning (Based on Living Faith 1.1)
To know God is to gain eternal life, and to serve God is to experience joy and peace. As
you go from this place, may you know the fullness of the joy and the peace that only
serving God can give, and may God, the creator of all that is, keep you until you enter
God’s eternal life. Amen.
