             Smart Accountability
Differentiated accountability allows the state to
treat schools placed in school improvement under
NCLB differently with:
• New designations that better reflect the degree
to which schools are meeting “adequate yearly
  progress”
• Interventions that target the indentified schools’
  needs
       Smart Accountability Labels
Arkansas’s plan utilizes six overall categories:
• Achieving Schools
• Alert Status Schools
• Targeted Improvement Schools
• Whole School Improvement Schools
• Intensive Targeted Improvement Schools
• Intensive Whole School Improvement Schools
• State Directed Improvement Schools
