RULES

When entering a pony / horse it is a condition of entry that these rules are abided by.

Handlers in IN-Hand classes ages 14 years and under, must wear a correctly secured current
British Standard skull cap or riding hat.


   It is the exhibitors responsibility to ensure they are present in the ring at the start of the class.
   Refunds of class fees will not be given if exhibitors miss their class.
   The Judges decision is final.
   The judge may withhold any prize where there is an evident want of merit.
   Riders of stallions must be aged 12 years + for small breeds and 14 years + for large breeds.
   Objections – Any objections to be made in writing to the Secretary with a deposit of £30.00
    cash, which will be returned if the objection is upheld. All objections must be made within 30
    minutes of the class taking place.
   The Officials and Council of the NCPA accept no responsibility for loss, injury or damage to
    any person or their property whilst on the Showground, car parks or approaches. All entries
    are subject to these conditions.
   Exhibitors alone are solely responsible for the accuracy and eligibility of their entries. No entry
    will be accepted unless accompanied with the correct fee. In the event of an entry proving
    incorrect, (whether by mistake or otherwise), the entry fee will not be returned.
   An Exhibitor may not exhibit a pony / horse bred, sold, leased or produced by the Judge, their
    immediate family or their employer.
   The Committee reserves the right to expel from the class or Showground any animal not
    considered to be under control, especially where a danger to the public could be created.
   The Committee reserves the right to cancel, amalgamate or divide any class should entries so
    warrant.
   No substitute or nomination entries will be allowed.
   In the event of the Show being cancelled by events beyond our control, a £5.00 administration
    fee will be deducted from each Exhibitor.
   All persons entering the Showground must have personal third party insurance.
   This Show operates under the NCPA Child and Vulnerable Persons Protection Policy.
   Show canes and whips must not be more than 30 inches long.
   Ponies / horses must leave the ring at walk.
   ALL RIDERS must wear hats which comply to BS4472, 6473 and for BSPS classes, EN1384,
    PAS015 or PAS accredited while mounted, whether exhibiting or not.
   Lead Rein Classes: Ponies to be shown in a suitable bridle and the lead rein to be attached to
    the nose band on which it must remain whilst the pony is in the ring. Whilst in the ring, the
    pony must be led at all times.
   First Ridden Classes: Ponies to be shown in a snaffle bridle. No cantering allowed except for
    individual show.
   Foals must accompany mares in the ring and be at least three weeks old on the day of the
    Show.
   Mountain and Moorland ponies must be shown in their natural state and must be registered
    with their respective Breed Society, and the registration number quoted on the entry form.
   All Stallions and Colts must be licenced as stipulated by their relevant breed society and must
    handled by a person over 14 years of age and be adequately bitted and under control.
   No litter to be left on the Showground. CLEANING OUT HORSEBOXES & TRAILERS IS
    STRICTLEY FORBIDDEN.
   All Exhibitors must be wearing the allocated number for the Exhibit when entering the ring;
   Dogs must be on a lead and supervised at all times.
   Handlers and Grooms must be appropriately dressed.
 Anyone found to be mistreating a horse or pony may be asked to leave the show ground, and
  reported to the appropriate body.
 All horses and ponies must have a valid passport which should accompany the animal on
  show days.

Qualifications
 This show is a qualifier for the 2013 NCPA Pony of the Year Show 1 , 2 & 3 prize-winners

  in appropriate classes will qualify.
 NCPA Star Rosettes will be awarded in classes 4, 10, 16, 21. Members must enter the ring
  wearing their NCPA badge, and be in possession of their CURRENT YEAR’s Membership
  Card.
 NCPA Registered Rosettes will be awarded in classes 5, 7, 12, 22. Number must be quoted on
  entry form and pink card produced in the ring.

 This show is affiliated to the Coloured Horse and Pony Society (UK). Both owner and the
  rider/exhibitor need not be a member of CHAPS (UK) nor must the horses or pony be
  registered with CHAPS (UK) to compete.
   Classes 11 – 13 & 19 – 20 Qualify for The CHAPS (UK) Championship Show will be held in
   August 2013. Members to apply in writing to CHAPS (UK) for appropriate qualifier card.

    For full rulings and information on competition / qualification, please refer to the CHAPS (UK
    Members’ Handbook; or visit www.chapsuk.com for rulings. All stallions entering these
    classes must be graded or valid First Stage Approved with CHAPS (UK). Stallion ID Discs
    must be worn in the ring.

    Classes 19 – 20 are also qualifiers for the BSPS Winter Championships for Novice Exhibits as
    per the rules – please wear a white armband.
BOTH THE OWNER AND THE RIDER OF ANY EXHIBIT NEED NOT BE FULLY
PAID-UP MEMBERS OF CHAPS (UK) AT THE TIME OF COMPETITION, NOR
MUST THE ANIMAL BE REGISTERED; BUT TO VALIDATE THE QUALIFICATION,
BOTH MEMBERSHIP AND REGISTRATION MUST BE APPLIED FOR WITHIN 14
DAYS OF THE QUALIFICATION. SEND TO CHAPS (UK) ADMIN, 1 MCLAREN
COTTAGES, ABERTYSSWG, RHYMNEY, TREDEGAR NP22 5BH. ALL STALLIONS
MUST BE GRADED WITH CHAPS (UK) IN ORDER TO COMPETE IN THESE
CLASSES. Exhibits not to have qualified for HOYS in the current and previous year
in which the Finals will be held (e.g. for 2013 Finals the horse or pony must not
have qualified for HOYS in either 2011 or 2012).


 This show is also affiliated to The Traditional Gypsy Cob Association (GB).
  Class 21 is a qualifying classes for the TGCA National Championship show to be held in 2013.
  All stallions four years old and over must be licensed with the TGCA prior to the show in order
  to qualify for the TGCA National Championships. The highest placed junior rider and the
  highest placed exhibitor eligible for the restricted classes must present their cards for signature
  by the judge to take part in the junior and restricted finals classes.

 This Show is affiliated to EQUIFEST, taking place at the East of England Showground in
  August 2013.
  The two highest exhibits not already qualified in each affiliated class will qualify in
  classes 2-8, 10-14, & 19 - 21
 This Show is affiliated to the British Show Pony Society (BSPS) and all persons entering,
  competing, showing or otherwise taking part in the BSPS Classes, whether or not Members of
  the BSPS are subject to the Constitution and Rules of the BSPS including the disciplinary
  procedures, and shall be deemed to have consented to the jurisdiction of the BSPS.
  This Show is a qualifier or the Summer 2013 BSPS Championships show to be held at
  Arena UK. Provided the animal is registered in accordance with Rules 23 and 28 the following
  qualifications will be awarded:

    1.   M&M pure bred Foal Class - any breed Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland,
         Welsh A & B, C, D, Connemara, Dales, Fell, Highland and New Forest.
    2.   M&M Youngstock Small breeds - 1, 2 & 3 year old, Dartmoor, Exmoor,
         Shetland, Welsh A & B
    3.   M&M Youngstock large breeds 1, 2 & 3 year old. Connemara, Dales,
         Fell, Highland New Forest, Welsh C & D.
         Championship – 1st & 2nd prize winners from classes 1 & 3 to compete.
    4.   In Hand - M&M Open Small Breeds Stallion, Mare or Gelding, 4 years old
         and over, Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland, and Welsh Sections A & B.
    5.   In Hand - M&M Open Large Breeds Stallion, Mare or Gelding, 4 years old
         and over, Connemara, Dales, Fell, Highland, New Forest, Welsh C & D.
         Championship – 1st & 2nd prize winners from classes 4 & 5 to compete.

Hand classes from rings 1 & 2 to compete

         over, not exceeding 122cms. Riders must have attained their 3rd birthday
         but not their 9th birthday before the 1st January in the current year. To be
         led shown in a snaffle bridle. Lead Rein to be attached to noseband
         only.( £5.00 first prize to the winner)
   7.    BSPS Heritage Open M&M First Ridden Mare or Gelding, 4 years old
         and over, not exceeding 128cms. Riders not to have attained their 12th
         birthday before the 1st January in the current year.( £5.00 first prize to the
         winner)
   Championship - 1st & 2nd prize winners from classes 6 – 7 to compete


   8.a. Junior Ridden – M&M Mixed Breeds, Mare or Gelding 4 years old and
        over. Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland, Welsh Sections A,B,C,D, Connemara,
        Dales, Fell, Highland and New Forest. Riders not to have attained their 14
        birthday before the 1st January in the current year.
   8.b. Junior Ridden – M&M Mixed Breeds, Mare or Gelding 4 years old and
        over. Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland, Welsh Sections A,B,C,D, Connemara,
        Dales, Fell, Highland and New Forest. Riders not to have attained their 18
        birthday before the 1st January in the current year.
   Championship - 1st & 2nd prize winners from classes 8a – 8b to compete
   9.    BSPS Heritage M&M Novice Mixed Breed - Stallion, Mare or Gelding, 4
         years old and over, Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland, Welsh Sections A,B,C,D,
         Connemara, Dales, Fell, Highland and New Forest. Rider any age – to be
         shown in any snaffle bridle.( £5.00 first prize to the winner)
   10.   BSPS Heritage Open M&M Mixed Breeds - Stallion, Mare or Gelding, 4
         years old and over, Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland, Welsh Sections A,B,C,D,
         Connemara, Dales, Fell, Highland and New Forest. Rider any age.(£5.00
         first prize to the winner) Winner qualifies David Manning Ch of Champs.

   BSPS Heritage Ridden Championship - 1st & 2nd prize winners from classes
   9 – 10 to compete

ridden classes from Rings 1 & 2 to compete.

         Non native 1, 2 & 3 year old - colt, filly or gelding.


   12.   CHAPS (UK) Open Coloured In Hand – open to traditional, native, show
         cobs & non-native type ponies. Not exceeding 148 cm, 4 years old and
         over.
   13.   CHAPS (UK) Open Coloured In Hand – open to traditional, native, show
         cobs & non-native type ponies. Exceeding 148 cm, 4 years old and over
   Championship – 1st & 2nd prize winners from classes 11 -13 to compete.


   14.   Open Youngstock - Non M&M In-Hand - Foals, 1, 2 & 3 year old any
         breed (Rosette to best Foal)
   15.   Show Pony – In Hand – Mare or Gelding, 4 years old or over, not
         exceeding 148cms.
   16.   Hunter Ponies – In Hand – Mare or Gelding, 4 years old and over not
         exceeding 153cms.
   Championship – 1st & 2nd prize winners from classes 14 -16 to compete.


   17.   Young Handler - Mare or Gelding, 4 years and over, not exceeding
         138cms, to be led by a handler who has attained their 7th birthday but not
         their 12th birthday by the 1st January in the current year.
   18.   Young Handler Mare or Gelding, 4 years and over, not exceeding
         153cms, to be led by a handler who has attained their 12th birthday but not
         their 18th birthday by the 1st January in the current year.
   Hard hats which comply with EN1384, PAS015 or PAS accredited MUST be worn by all Exhibitors
   in this class. All animals to be of suitable height for the Handler.

   Championship – 1st & 2nd prize winners from classes 17 -18 to compete.
         (Please note young handler champion and reserve are not eligible for the
         supreme in hand.)



Overall Supreme In Hand Championship – Champion & Reserves from all In

   19.   CHAPS (UK) Open Ridden Pony – any type, 4 years old and over, not

   20.   CHAPS (UK) Open Ridden Horse – any type, 4 years old and exceeding
         148cm. Qualifier for 2013 CHAPS Championships and Novice Exhbits may

   21.   TGCA Ridden – Open to mares, stallions & geldings, 4 years and over.
         Mixed height.
   Championship – 1st & 2nd prize winners from classes 19 -21 to compete.
   22.   Combined Lead Rein & First Ridden –Show/ Show Hunter Type Mare
         or Gelding, 4 years old and over, not exceeding 122cms. Lead Rein Rider
         not to have attained their 9th birthday and First Ridden Rider not to have
         attained their 10th before 1st January in the current year.

   23.   BSPS Mixed Height Open Show Hunter – Mare or Gelding, 4 years old
         and over not exceeding 153cms. Rider to be correct age for the height of
         the pony they ride. (Any Suitable bridles)(£5.00 prize money to winner)The
         winner will qualify for David Manning Champion of Champions.
   24.   BSPS Mixed Height Novice Show Pony – Mare or Gelding, 4 years old
         or over, not exceeding 148cms. Riders must be the correct age for the
         height of the pony they ride. (snaffle bridles)(£5.00 prize money to winner)
   Championship – 1st & 2nd prize winners from classes 22 -24 to compete.



Ridden Supreme Championship – Champion and reserves from all ridden
