What is the purpose of the Multicultural Queensland Partnerships Program?
The Program is established to provide funding assistance to non government
organisations and local government agencies to strengthen multiculturalism and build
community capacity, including improved access to services.
What type of activities will be funded under the Multicultural Queensland
The Program provides funding to activities that will:
support events and projects that promote cultural diversity and its benefits to
promote cohesion and harmony within Queensland’s culturally diverse society
provide opportunities for Queenslanders to participate in a broad range of
strengthen the capacity of Queenslanders from culturally and linguistically
diverse backgrounds to access services and participate more actively in
various types of activities within the wider community.

Is funding available to multicultural projects to be conducted across
Funding will only be available for projects and events taking place in Queensland
within the 2013 calendar year.
Will funding be provided to multi-year projects?
Only one-off funding is available. The 2012-2013 annual grants round will not fund

Funding is available under four funding categories including:
Week-Long Festivals (maximum grant = $10,000)
Multicultural Festivals (maximum grant = $10,000)
Cultural Heritage Events (maximum grant = $3,000)
Strengthening Capacity Projects (maximum grant = $10,000).
How do I know under which funding category I should submit my proposal?
If you are unsure which funding category your funding proposal fits into, you may
contact Multicultural Affairs Queensland for clarification. You may also contact the
Grant Access Worker at the Multicultural Development Association on 3337 5400
or email firstname.lastname@example.org for assistance on preparing your submission.
What items will be funded or not funded under the Multicultural Queensland

How can I submit my application?
Funding applications can be submitted:
by post (stamped & postmarked by Australia Post) no later than 10 October 2012
to Multicultural Affairs Queensland, PO Box 15397, CITY EAST QLD 4002
emailed to MAQ@datsima.qld.gov.au on or before 10 October 2012
hand-delivered to “Decipha” at 2 Duncan Street, West End (specifying it is a
funding application to be submitted to Multicultural Affairs Queensland,
PO Box 15397, CITY EAST QLD 4002) no later than 4.00 pm on Wednesday,
10 October 2012.
My organisation does not have an Australian Business Number and is not
registered as an incorporated body, can we apply for funding?
Non-incorporated organisations considering applying for funding under the
Multicultural Queensland Partnerships Program should seek incorporation or
approach an incorporated community organisation to auspice the project. The
incorporated organisation takes full responsibility for the legal and financial
accountability of the proposed project.
What is the closing date for the 2012-2013 grants round of the Multicultural
Queensland Partnerships Program?
The closing date for applications is 10 October 2012.
When will the funding outcome be announced?
It is anticipated that the funding outcomes will begin to be announced by
December 2012. Funding will become available after the successful applicants
have entered into a service agreement and provided bank account information.
