Associate Configuration Management Engineer - #1355

-Interface with software developers and project engineers to determine software
build requirements
-Develop necessary project specific kit build procedures

Associate Telecom Engineer – # 1871

Required Skills and Experience:
1. Basic knowledge of IP protocol, Ethernet networking, serial communications protocols (232, 422, and
485), AC/DC Power Circuits, and Mechanical Layout/Applications/Assemblies
2. Basic knowledge of 802.11 WiFi communications, antennas, RF propagation, RF site surveys
3. Ability to follow system level requirements and help produce location specific designs
4. The design designs include, but not limited to creation of; Power calculations, cable(FO and CU)
layout/plans, master parts lists, detailing (tag lists, cable descriptors), Mechanical rack/assembly layouts,
subsystem requirements/architectures, preliminary and detailed design documents
5. Mapping requirements to design documents
6. Assist with the configuration and setup of communications equipment for factory testing
7. Production of FAT and Site test procedures
8. Ability to execute test procedures in the factory and on-site.
9. Proficiency in Visio, MicroStation and/or AutoCAD skills
10. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word

The Associate Telecommunications Engineer is responsible for assisting in the definition and delivery of
a sound telecomm system design for existing applications and contribute to the development of new
applications assisting in the transfer of knowledge to within the Signal Engineering Professional Group.

The engineer will be required to interface with customers, end users, suppliers, co- suppliers, ASTS
subcontractors and other technical organizations to define the operational and performance
requirements of the Communication Subsystem related to the overall signaling system. The Associate
Telecommunications Engineer will be required to assist thorough and detailed communication designs,
build, configure, and test the Communication Subsystem. The Associate Telecommunications Engineer
will be required to provide requirements analysis for the Communication Subsystem. He/she will be
required to generate test plans, cases, and procedures, as well as provide oversight and assistance with
the system level testing, validation, and commissioning of the Communication Subsystem.

The engineer must have or be able to obtain a valid passport, visa, and be willing to travel to global
locations for extended periods to support installation and site testing.

Job Location: This position will be located in ASTS USA Headquarters in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

--Develop software applications for the freight railroad dispatching systems to include various
design/coding/testing duties related to a particular part of the functionality required to deploy a
Dispatching System.

--Person develop C++ applications that could range from predominantly information system applications
to more specific control applications

Required Skills:
- MUST have strong experience with C++ and OO Development
- MUST have strong experience with Linux/UNIX Operating System Environment
- Software Design Experience.
- 3 Tier Architecture Experience.
- X Windows or Motif Experience.
- Distributed Systems Experience.
- Full Life-cycle development and have deployment experience as well.
- GUI development (both creating forms and developing the code behind the forms).

Job Description:*
Basic Purpose:
The Engineer is required to use initiative and judgment in resolving problems, obtains and analyzes data, designs
systems and applies equipment, designs components, and determines the intent of specifications or instructions.

The Engineer is an incumbent who is perceived as a qualified support professional and is in the process of
development. The Engineer’s assignments are routine and may include design and modification, experimentation,
analysis, documentation, specifications, testing, etc., chiefly for existing products or processes. This position
possesses some technical authority.

Essential Responsibilities/Functions:
• Prepares logic circuit designs for use on a specific project in accordance with established design principles,
procedures, and specifications.
• Programs Microprocessor devices in accordance with the customer specifications, and following established
design principles and procedures.
• Interprets customer or project specifications to determine the application of all material.
• Prepares quotations and indicates possible cost/delivery problems, and includes feasible recommendations to
deal with those problems.
• Requisition preparation is in accordance with ASTS procedures and is accurate as to technical specifications using
the appropriate part numbers.
• Prepares estimates for assigned projects in consultation with the task leader following established guidelines and
• Prepares all documentation, performs test hook-ups, and participates in the conducting and analyzing of tests
under the direction of senior personnel.
• Reviews CAD work for accuracy following guidelines set forth by the project requirements.

• Candidate must hold a BS or BA degree in a technical discipline and have a minimum of two (2) years experience
with train control system design, or five (5) years of directly related experience.
