This year, You will:
 Read 6 books, finishing at least two books per trimester.
 Submit 3 book reports to be graded. One will be an oral presentation.

books of the same genre.

Here is what you will need to submit:
 You will choose 3 books (one each Trimester) on which you will create a Book Report (2 written/project, 1 creative
oral). All guidelines will be provided.

Approximate Book report due dates:
November (written)
February (mosaic)
June (creative)

Note: Reports may be submitted prior to the due date.

                           Creative Oral Book Report
Choose one of the following creative options for your
                                      final Book Report.
Prepare a 2-3 minute dynamic presentation that will enrapture, inspire, and
                                        captivate your audience.

 1. You are a reporter for the local news station in the town/city in which your novel takes place. In your best official
reporter façade, give a detailed account of the climax and/or ending of the novel. Be sure to include details about
the characters involved and the events that lead to your breaking news!

 2. Congratulations! You have just been hired by the Home Shopping Network to sell your
Independent Reading novel to viewers, nation-wide. Create an infomercial, even better than that
of the Snuggy®, marketing your novel. Specify your target audience and focus on plot highlights,
key characters, and theme. Convince potential buyers that they NEED this book! Be sure to
include a catchy slogan or jingle!

 3. A major movie studio has decided to make a film version of your Independent Reading novel. It is
your job to create a soundtrack for this motion picture. Choose at least 5 songs that
reflect/correspond with your novel. Include a SHORT excerpt of each song, and explain why you
chose each, focusing on plot highlights, theme, and character traits.

Yes, at least one prop is required for each report option!
No, the actual book does not count (nor does your music for option 3).

Refer to the RUBRIC on the opposite side of this sheet for
                                    specifics on grading.
Be advised that an oral presentation should
                               attract your audience’s attention
right from the start and keep them hooked throughout the
                                         duration of your report.

                                                      <Applause!>
