							STARS Innovation Inventory
       Based on STARS data submitted through June 1, 2012

Rationale for Conducting the Inventory:
       The STARS innovation inventory was created to effectively manage the large amount of information within the Innov
       current version of STARS (1.2) requires that institutions provide a brief description of the innovative policy, practice, p

Summary Description of the Process & Procedures

       The first step for conducting the inventory was to identify ‘tags’ that could improve IN credit classification. The follow

       • Topics related to the IN entry (each STARS subcategory was selected as a relevant topic. Though not a STARS subca

       • The presence of social, environmental, and economic dimensions of sustainability
       • Measurable outcomes of implementing innovative practices

Detailed Description of each Column
       Column A: Institution
                STARS-Rated Institutions are listed in alphabetical order. Each institution has up to four IN entries (represen
                entries that institution pursued. Those institutions that have submitted more than one report may have mo

       Column B: Country
                The country in which the institution is located is listed in the inventory. The two options for this variable inc

                Based on the Carnegie classification system, STARS-rated institutions are classified as either "two-year institu

       The first tag of the STARS Innovation Inventory provides a word or short phrase to summarize the innovative

       The third tag of the STARS Innovation Inventory identifies the topic of sustainability addressed for each IN cr
