The PTA carnival will be this Friday from 4-6:30PM. The title for the event is "Neon
Madness". Tickets will be on sale for $12 during all lunches this Wednesday through
Friday. If you buy tickets at the door, tickets will be $15. With the price of admission,
you will get pizza, snacks, drinks, inflatables, a DJ and a dance, light show, and glow
sticks. Remember this carnival is for KMS students only and dress code will be in
effect. We are in need of the following: individually wrapped snack donations, 2 liter
Coca Cola beverage donations, parent volunteers as chaperones

All 8th Grade students who were members of the National Junior Honor Society last
year in 7th grade need to meet in room 504 on Tuesday, October 23rd at 8am. We
will begin discussing the Induction process and officer elections. Please see Mrs. Nowak
or Mrs. Smithson if you are unable to attend.

Yearbooks are on sale for $35. Order forms can be picked up in the front office or
printed from the KMS website.

The Lego Club will meet on Mondays from 4-4:30 in room 408.

The Basketball Club meets Wednesdays until 4:45 in the small gym. Be sure to bring a
basketball! If you have any questions, see Mrs. Johansen.

Mythology Club meets every Tuesday morning and afternoon in 501.

Chess Club meets every Thursday afternoon in 501.

The Color Blind paint-ball team for 7th and 8th graders with Mrs. Mooring is meeting in
room 602 every other Thursday from 4-4:45.
The next meeting is on Thursday, October 18th.

The KMS Science Olympiad team is meeting on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00-
5:30 in room 204. Please join us to explore the world of science, technology, and
engineering and get ready to compete at regional competitions! It's a blast! Please see
Mrs. Dove or Mrs. Powell for more information.

Are you a great speller? Do you like to have fun with words? Please join us on
Wednesday afternoons for the Spelling Club in room 506. We will meet from 4:15-4:45.
See Ms. Carter if you have questions. Everyone is welcome!

Attention all students interested in joining the Lego robotic Ecobot club. We will be
having our first informational meeting today, October 18th. We will meet in room 907
from 4:00 to 4:45. We will be discussing the dates for this year's challenge and how
tryouts will work. Come and bring anyone who is interested. See you there!

The PTA Reflections contest is now under way. Information and entry forms can be
found on the KMS website. Click on "Our School", then "PTA", and then "PTA
Reflections". All entries must be received by the KMS PTA by Friday, November 2nd.

Red Ribbon Week is October 22nd - October 26th!
Monday – Be smart about drugs! Wear ties, suspenders and glasses
Tuesday – Drugs ruin your dreams! Wear pajama pants and slippers
Wednesday – Give drugs the "boot"! Wear cowboy boots, cowboy hats and rodeo wear
Thursday – Tackle drugs! Use your defense! Wear your favorite sports gear
Friday – Go ALL Out! Red Out! Wear ALL red!

October IS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH! HELP US MAKE A DIFFERENCE
IN OUR OWN COMMUNITY! The change drive began Oct. 1 and our totals are... 6th
Grade - $15.40, 7th Grade - $2.75, 8th Grade - $2.14.
SPECIAL INCENTIVE FOR THIS WEDS., THURS., AND FRIDAY! FOR EVERY $1 IN
CHANGE (OR BILLS) THAT you BRING IN ON THOSE THREE DAYS, you WILL RECEIVE
A RAFFLE TICKET TO WIN A PRIZE TO BE DRAWN AT THE DANCE! (No need to be
present to win). Ex. - $3 will get 3 raffle tickets. The prizes are Movie Nite Packs worth
$30 each! The grade that brings in the most change gets IPOD time at lunch the week
of November 12 -16. PLEASE help us support this worthy organization!! They run
entirely on donations!

Hey Cougars! Go to the KMS Home Page and vote for the US President. The results will
be revealed on October 31.

Students, don't forget that we don't allow posters in any of the main hallways. The
only place we allow posters or advertisements is in the cafeteria. All advertisements
are limited to club announcements.

connections at Quest Early College High School. Find out more by attending an
information meeting at Quest Early College High School on Thursday, November 8th
from 6:00 to 7:30 pm. Bring your parents and find out how to apply to Quest and
getting a head start on your college education. Get the details from your counselor or
