                                                       candidates on the basis of their inter-se-merit in
                                                       the Common Entrance Test (CET) and AIEEE
                                                       as per Pb. Govt. notification for CET to be
                                                       conducted by one of the Universities/
                                                       Institutions on behalf of the Punjab
                                                       Government or as decided by the University
                                                       from time to time.
     iii) B.Tech (Food Tech.)         8               Senior Secondary examination (10+2) with a
                                      Semesters       minimum of 50% marks aggregate in
                                                      Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and English.
                                                           Admission shall be based on the merit of
                                                      the candidate in CET (85%) to be conducted by

                                                     Government.
                                                 c) The admission to B.Tech. (Sugar and Alcohol
                                                       Technology) shall be made purely on the basis
                                                       of merit of the candidate in 10+2 examination.

                                                       Provided that :
                                                       1. For Economics, a person who has passed the
                                                          B.Com. examination with 45% marks in the
                                                          subject of Economics, or B.Sc. Hons. School
                                                          in Economics shall also be eligible.
                                                       2. For Political Science and History course, a
                                                          person who has passed B.A. with 45% marks
                                                          in Public Administration or Sociology, shall
                                                          be eligible.
                                                       3. For Public Administration course, a person
                                                          who has passed B.A. with 45% marks in
                                                          Public Administration or Political Science or
                                                          History or Economics or Sociology shall also
                                                          be eligible.
                                                       4. For Philosophy course, a person who has
                                                          passed B.A. with 45% marks in Psychology
                                                          shall also be eligible.

                                          5. For M.A. Hindi course, a person who has
                                             passed B.A. with 45% marks in Sanskrit
                                             (Elective) shall be eligible. A candidate who
                                             has passed 3 years Shastri examination shall
                                             also be eligible for admission to M.A. Hindi/
                                             Sanskrit.
                                          6. Music up to B.A. level will not be compulsory
                                             for admission to M.A. Music. The admission
                                             may be made on the basis of aptitude & skill
                                             test and having 50% of the aggregate marks at
                                             BA level.
                                          7. A candidate shall offer Geography only if he
                                              has passed that subject in B.A. or B.Sc.
                                              examination or a person who has obtained
                                              Post-Graduate Diploma in Cartography in
                                              atleast second division. Private candidates are
                                              not allowed to offer Geography as subject.
                                          8. For M.A. (Fine Arts) examination only regular
                                              candidates shall be eligible who have
                                              completed the prescribed course in colleges
                                              affiliated to this University.
                                                          All students (including those who
                                              have not opted Fine Arts as an Elective subject
                                              at graduation level) like M.A. (Music) &
                                              M.A.(Dance).
                                          9. For M.A. English/ Punjabi, a person who has
                                              passed the B.A. Hons. School in English/
                                              Punjabi shall also be eligible.
                                          10.For M.A. in Russian & French, a candidate
                                             who has passed Bachelor’s degree in any
                                             Faculty and Advanced Diploma in the subject
                                             concerned with 50% marks shall also be
                                             eligible.
6.   M.A. (Semester System)   4           The eligibility of *M.A. (Semester System)
                              Semesters   examination for these subjects whose eligibility
                                          not separately available shall be same as for M.A.

                                                       of Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test
                                                       qualified candidates the admission will be
                                                       based on merit in the entrance test to be
                                                       conducted by the Department.
                                                    c) 80% seats are reserved for students who have
                                                       qualified Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test
                                                       and passed B. Pharmacy examination of
                                                       G.N.D.U. However, if eligible candidate(s)
                                                       are not available under above category, the
                                                       vacant seats shall be open to the candidates
                                                       who have qualified Graduate Pharmacy
                                                       Aptitude Test and B.Pharmacy Examination
                                                       from other Universities.

1.    Doctor of Philosophy in                      i) Master's degree with at least 55% marks (6.18

                                                     Guru Nanak Dev University or an equivalent
                                                     degree of recognized Indian or foreign
                                                     University in the subject concerned or allied -

                                                   ii) Further that the eligibility of foreign students
                                                       shall be determined on the basis of
                                                       recognition of their degrees equivalent to (i)
                                                       above by Association of Indian Universities,

                                                       Sports Medicine (DSM)/Diploma in Physical
                                                       Medicine and Rehabilitation (DPMR)/
                                                       Diploma in Orthopedic (D.Ortho) or
                                                       equivalent qualification after passing MBBS
                                                       degree recognized by the Medical Council of
                                                       India be allowed for Ph.D. enrolment/
                                                       registration in the Faculty of Sports Medicine
                                                       & Physiotherapy.

                                                     The University shall admit Ph.D. students
                                                     through Ph.D. Eligibility Test conducted at
                                                     the level of the University. The students who
                                                     have qualified UGC(NET)/ UGC-CSIR (JRF)
                                                     examination/SLET/GATE/INSPIRE/ Rajiv
                                                     Gandhi Fellowship awardees/ teacher
                                                     fellowship holder or have passed M.Phil.
                                                     from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar
                                                     and foreign students sponsored by ICCR or
                                                     any other department of Government of India
                                                     will be exempted from Ph.D. Eligibility Test.
                                                     Applications of other foreign students who
                                                     wish to seek admission directly (without
                                                     sponsorship) to Ph.D. programme shall be
                                                     examined by the Board of Control of
                                                     concerned department. The BOC shall give
                                                     its recommendations and issue eligibility
                                                     certificate for admission of such students to
                                                     the Ph.D. programme without Ph.D.
                                                     Eligibility Test.
