							Graduate Degree in Clinical Psychology

One way to attract more students may be to offer a graduate degree in Clinical
psychology. Members of the Psychology Department believe that there is a huge demand
and a clinical/developmental professor could start the development of such a masters
program. Students around the country are clamoring for graduate schools that offer
degrees in clinical areas, especially for working with children. The current faculty
members have the expertise for all the necessary companion courses if we had a professor
to teach the core clinical/developmental curriculum.

The combination of clinical/developmental would be ideal as preliminary research from r
students, email contacts, exit surveys and alumni surveys that many of our graduates are
planning to work or currently working in social service organizations. The Department
also knows from talking with students that many are interested in careers in educational
settings, such as school psychologists. The child and adolescent courses would also
support a focus on school psychology for interested students.
