Dear Business Owner/Manager,

My name is Randy Bronson, my family and I have resided in the Voluntown and Griswold
Community for over 25 years. On February 5, 2005, our 23-year-old son Richard Lee Bronson
was tragically killed in a motor vehicle accident involving an intoxicated driver, who was later
convicted and sentenced to jail.

Following Richard’s death, there was a memorial scholarship fund initiated in Richard’s name,
RLB Memorial Scholarship Fund. Family and friends created the fund as a way to honor and
remember Richard; Richard’s Psychology professor at Eastern Connecticut State University
created a second scholarship fund. Scholarships began to be handed out in 2005 to deserving
seniors at Griswold High School and Psi-Chi students at ECSU.

The reason we have chosen to memorialize Richard in this way, is that he was a popular student
athlete at Griswold High School, and a standout student at ECSU where he as an undergrad
student preparing for graduate school. Richard was a Psychology major and posthumously
named to Who’s Who of American College Students; he received the core status of being a
published author in a Psychology Journal. Richard received his diploma, Summa Cum Laude
with a 3.98 grade point average. Truly an academic career tragically cut short, but worthy of

In 2009, the RLB Memorial Fund Corporation became a licensed Non-Profit organization with
the State of Connecticut and the IRS. This has given the RLB Memorial Fund Corp. the
opportunity to attempt to raise more funds so that we can increase the scope and number of
scholarships as well as to provide support for local community youth based activities.

The RLB Memorial Fund Corp is solely by donations and sponsorships. As of 2012, we hold
three main fundraising events (RLB Evening Social in April, RLB Golf Tournament in June, and
Richard’s Walk and Family Fun Day in October). Each event has its own means of thanking our
sponsors, we provide signs, banners, tee shirts, etc.

As of 2012, the RLB Memorial Fund Corp has given out over $30,000 in scholarships and
sponsorships for youth and young adults within our community and at ECSU. We always strive
to do more for our community.

It is our wish that perhaps you or your business could find time to assist us in any way possible
with involvement through donations, purchased advertisements and or employee involvement. I
can be reached via email at: randy.d.bronson@gmail.com or by phone: 860-608-3791.
