                              Senior Horticultural Therapist
                            Thrive's Trunkwell Garden Project
                                    Salary £23,374 p.a.



REPORTING TO
Assistant Garden Manager

PLACE OF WORK
Thrive’s Trunkwell Garden Project, Beech Hill, Reading

REQUIREMENTS OF THE POST
    Take responsibility for and manage Trunkwell Garden activities/projects
    Manage all Trunkwell Garden staff, including their supervision, reviews and
     identification of training needs and provide enthusiastic leadership to their team
    Oversee operational planning to ensure delivery of agreed client programmes and
     motivational needs as outlined in the business plan
    Lead and oversee delivery of agreed investigative research programme by
     Trunkwell therapists.
    Ensure all aspects of Trunkwell provision, are delivered to agreed quality
     standards, demonstrating best practice, including internal verification of vocational
     qualifications
    Liaise with Assistant Garden Manager regarding volunteer requirements to assist
     delivery of business objectives and their day to day supervision
    Work in conjunction with Thrive’s training and education departments, in the
     delivery of student training activities
    Investigate ways in which the use of the garden can be extended to provide
     enhanced opportunities for use by the disabled people
    Act as an ambassador for Trunkwell Garden and Thrive when appropriate or
     requested
    Oversee development and implementation of retail business.

Qualifications/Education              Recognised qualification in horticulture (min level 2)
                                      A1/A2 Assessor qualification
                                      Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy
                                       (desirable)
                                      V1 Internal Verifier qualification (desirable)
                                      City & Guilds 7407 or equivalent (desirable)
                                      Certificate or diploma in Horticultural Therapy (desirable)
Experience                            Lesson Planning/individual learner plans
                                      Working in partnership with voluntary and statutory agencies
                                      Working with people with a wide range of disabilities
                                      Practical gardening/horticultural experience
                                      Retail/commercial nursery
Skills and Knowledge                  Strong verbal and written communication skills
                                      Good standard of numeracy
                                      Strong personal organisation and co-ordination skills
                                      Competent IT skills
                                      Ability to work on own initiative
                                      Able to work well with others
                                      Ability to build rapport
                                      Flexibility in the working environment
                                      Ability to delegate effectively
